I can understand people expecting God to perform a miracle, but I can't understand why they would expect a mere human to do so. A doctor is limited to what science knows, yet people think that a doctor or even science is holding out on a cure.

A prime example would be cancer and HIV, some people assume that both of these illnesses will be cured. Yet it is impossible.

If you are a doctor, how do you handle it when a patient expects from you more than what you are capable of doing?

Edit:
Well I work around doctors and so many expect so much from them. They expect them to never ever make a mistake, yes it should be avoidable, but to say that it should never happen is not practicle. Plus a doctor can only do so much. A patients has a lot to do with there recovery. Plus some patients are noncompliant, or the patient's body responds different to treatment.

I don't think only religious people do this, but people in general. I feel sorry for a doctor when they have to explain to a pt that "A" is impossible or that a outcome is likely to happen.

The sad thing is that so many people give doctors little or no credit for what they do.

How many times have you heard people tell stories about those "horrible doctors" who told them they wouldn't recover and then a "miracle" happened? The sad thing is that without the medical care they received most of these people would have never survived long enough for their bodies to heal.

And yet they demonize the very people they owe their life to.

People will be in bad shape and go to the doctor and the hospital and with treatment they get well and they call this a miracle. The bible definition of a miracle is Gd breaking his laws pf nature to heal someone. Raising Lazarus from the dead after 4 days in the grave and causing arms and legs to grow where none existed is what the bible claims is a miracle.

However some doctors sell themselves short. I had a broken wrist and the doctor told me if I followed his advise after the screws and retainer was removed that I would heal without the need for physical therapy, I did like he advised and when he last saw me he could not believe how fast I healed and that I did not need physical therapy and he asked me how I healed so good and I just told him th truth that I followed his advise. His comment was that in all the years of treating broken bones I was the first to follow his advise proving him right.

Well, thats a good question! I have the upmost respect for doctors and nurses ect. The are our heroes just like our fellow police officers and troops! They are just as important. But a person who believes in God should only expect God to perform miracles. Man does not have that capability! I suppose when someone has a life threatening illness they may have all kinds of irrational thoughts and opinions. But if they turn to God and believe that he can heal them, they can be healed! It has happened many times before! I myself believe that with God, all things are possible.

you notice a miracle whenever you look interior the replicate, eat an orange, wave to a different individual, %. up a baby, puppy a canines, fly a kite, breathe the air. faith can't take the situation of consumer-friendly experience and sound reason. Likewise neither can technology and medicine. our bodies have been designed to stop sometime. this is been this type for eons and could be this type for eons to return. do no longer amplify existence the place there is not any end to suffering. to accomplish that is cruel.

I dont expect miracles from doctors, only God can give miracles. But I also expect a doctor to know what they are doing. I have ran into a few that did not know their butt from a hole in the ground

most of the time the people are scared and the doctors are there only hope and they don't want to believe that there is no cure.
You don't hear to much about when doctors make mistakes you mainly hear about how great they are and most of the time people don't want to believe other wise.

You want to know the truth?

Doctors are just modern day "Witch-doctors" - they help you to lives longer , to do more wronger (pardon the vernacular)

They just treat symptoms only and rarely and seldom do they deal with the causes which are 99% spiritual in nature.

Can you dispute that?
