A diesel engine can run on these fuels but your 05 Dodge should not. The high pressure injection pump, called the CP3, uses fuel for lubrication.

Since home heating oil and kerosene do not have the lubricity required for the CP3 pump you should not run them except in a dire emergency. Even then you should run them with some ashless 2 cycle oil to maintain lubricity. By saying this I'm NOT saying its OK to run these fuels when adding additional lube oil. Just in an emergency where those are the only fuels available and you really don't care what happens to the CP3 and injectors.

The only Dodge Cummins that could run these fuels was the 1994 through 1998 12 valve trucks with a P7100 injection pump. This mechanical pump is engine oil lubricated and is not affected by the fuel lubricity. It could run #1 & #2 Diesel, 1K & 2K Kerosene, Jet-A, Jet A-1, JP-5, and JP-8.

Heavens no! People are saying you can use old cooking oil for fuel and their right......to an extent. Remember it has to go through the injector pump first. And the pump is very easily damaged if it doesn't have the proper lubrication. Just because stuff will burn in the cylinders, dose not mean it is OK for the injector pump. I have replaced injector pumps that have failed because the truck simply ran out of fuel. The pump ran long enough with no fuel (just a few seconds) to ruin the pump. Any fuel not certified as diesel fuel (pump fuel) will void the warranty. And that pump is EXPENSIVE! Why take a chance?

Um, it is a deisel engine, you can run deisel in it. That is all. You could wreck your truck, or even hurt yourself if you put the wrong fuel in.
