it can be very difficult, there are several programs you can join to return to Israel in groups. the process is very strict for obvious reasons. you should go to your local synagogue and ask your rabbi, he will know for sure and can put you in contact with the organizations. i know you must serve in the military after arriving but considering your age you may be exempt, im not sure on the details. once you do immigrate to Israel they require you to learn Hebrew, but they have great 3 month programs that seem to work well. congrats on the decision to make aliyah, good luck.

I heard you can just fly to tel Aviv, land there, show your passport, and say you wish to apply for right of return. As long as your mother is Jewish, you should be fine.

I have a friend who traveled to Israel and applied for right of return on the strength of a jewish surname. However while her father was jewish, her mother was not. She lived in Israel for several years, but later return to her home country (not USA).

Apparently Israel will only accept jews if you can prove that your mother is jewish.

And why do you want to go there anyway. Lots of battles, guns, explosions etc. Your kids and grandkids may be drafted into the military if they ever come to visit you.

I have also read stories that Israel cannot pay for all the new citizens, and some newcomers are left to fend for themselves. They are denied jobs because they are seen as "foreign" - especially if they do NOT speak hebrew.

I am an Australian born male living in Australia with half German and half Lebanese heritage. I'm sure there are a few of you out there that would love nothing more than to lynch me for this reason. However what the hell is "Right of return"??? I'm not as extreme as the president of Iran, however, why anyone that lives in any other part of the world would want to associate or "return" to the stolen land and one of the most oppressive regimes of the modern era, the IDF, is beyond me.

I witnessed first hand the atrocities that these psychopaths inflicted on their neighbours to the north last year. These monsters murdered over a thousand innocent civilians. Your ancestors were oppressed why are you doing the same to us. It might be likened to a child that was abused by a parent or stranger, the odds that they will become like them are very high.

I have no hatred for the Jewish people, honestly, however if you chose to associate yourself and are willing to be goverend by this regime than you deserve to be considered of the same ilk.

Before you all start jumping down my throat and using "measured force". I don't care what you call me or acuse me of being, I was there and saw what happended. Unless you were there also you have no right to criticise. Furthermore I have peace of mind in the knowledge that all the people that were murdered in this war crime will be stoking the fires of Hell that these Israeli criminals will burn in!!!

Come and live in Australia, for your own sake!!!

Jews have "Right of return".
I think you can hold dual citizenship.
Call the Israeli Consulate.

I think you petition their government and they say yes or no. You can appeal it if they say no, but you sound like a nice person. Good luck.
