Why would you rationalize the denominator?
4/2 + sqrt(5) = 2 + sqrt(5)
but...
4/2 +sqrt(5) = 4/2 + 2*sqrt(5)/2 = (4+2*sqrt(5))/2

I think you posted in the wrong place.
Really, though, if I remember my algebra, you would have to square both numerator and denominator to eliminate the square root, so that gives me 16 divided by 4 plus 5. I could be wrong (believe me, it's happened before) so please do check your math.
