So you've been part of an ensemble all term or semester, and now you want the Yahoo! community to help you come up with a lie so you can weasel your way out of the concert to go do something fun. You obviously don't care that you're letting down your conductor and your classmates.
The absence of even a single voice in a choir, especially male voice, can really screw up the balance and blend of the ensemble as a whole. Even if this was not the case, backing out of a performance for selfish reason is a rotten, flaky thing to do.
Considering your lousy work ethic and your total lack of integrity, I'd say you have no business being in the choir in the first place. Do your classmates and the teacher a favor and drop the class next term.
I am a vocal performance major who just finished singing in a double choir concert less than three hours ago, in spite of being ill and hoarse. I feel no pity for you whatsoever.
Grow up.

I'm sorry that your family has put you in this situation. My mother made me go to school unless I was seriously, seriously ill because education is so important. Especially when you're in a choir or some other kind of team or performing group, you have a responsibility to be there because the choir doesn't function properly without all its members. I recommend that you go to choir and go snowboarding on another day.

Time to grow up and act mature enough to tell the teacher the truth. You are unable to attend the concert becasue your family is going snowboarding. If your parents are obviously OK with your dropped grade, then it shows that both you or your parents could care less about your education, whether it's just a concert or something more academically related. Just suck it up and tell your teacher the truth instead of whining about an excuse.

This is my excuse for not singing in the Christmas musical at church, and on top of it being an excuse, it's the truth: I have an ulcer in my esophagus due to GERD.
This part is also true: Tomorrow I am having a Bravo transmitter implanted in my esophagus, which will transmit the pH balance in my stomach and throat to a receiver attached to my waist, so the doctor's office can monitor my condition and plan my treatment. The implant is being placed endoscopically under anesthesia.
I should be out of singing commission for at least a week, and more if I experience greater than expected throat discomfort from the implant. Like I said, this is all true.
Have fun snowboarding. You owe me one.

The real question is why is your family planning to take you snowboarding when you're supposed to be singing in the choir?
They should be teaching you about commitment, not encouraging you to ruin your grade and drop out of something you've been working towards.

Say that there was a death in the family. Traffic accidents are always believable. Say it was a cousin that lives out of state and make sure to sound sad about it. You'll miss the concert because you have to go be with family. Death's gather sympathy, understanding and flexibility when it comes to grades and responsibilities. It's Cold, I know, but you said you wanted a good excuse, and this one works. No one in their right mind calls out a person for lying when the serious subject of death is brought up.

You don't need an excuse!
as long as your parents are cool with your grade dropping tell the concert choir you would rather vacation with your family! Those memories and times are what is MOST important!

lol.... I would say... I had a death in the family (something vague and in a town a little down the road and out of the way) and have to go to their funeral. You can still go to school but you can say the funeral was after school. Two birds... One stone. Plus you don't lose your good attendance and lose any exemptions from any exams you are eligible to be exempt from. Make sure you say this a few days before the choir concert. You can explain it to your teacher and say "hey, I've had a death in the family and I have to go to the funeral. So therefore I cannot be in the concert this day because I'm gonna be with family most of this day."
