We DON'T wear shorts, sleeveless shirts, too short skirts for the women or open blouses

It ultimately depends on the church. However, as long as whatever you are wearing is clean and in good repair, without any offensive or questionable material (Leave the Big Johnson shirts at home, for example), you should be fine.

The Bible makes it clear God doesn't care what comes from outside, it's what comes from inside.

My average wear was a pair of knee-length denim shorts and a clean, blank tshirt (no slogans or logos, etc).

What you would wear for a nice dinner...not like a suit or anything. But you really should try not to wear jeans and a t-shirt. A button up shirt and khakis would be good. Or if you have like dress pants that would be good. You don't have to wear a dress(it's not really *THAT* formal) but you can if you want...

But just try to stay away from the casual clothes like you would wear to the mall or around the house or something.

In my parish, people dress in a variety of ways, though the norm seems to be "business casual" - polo shirts and Dockers for men, slacks/skirts and blouses with sweaters for women. I mean, people look pretty normal. There are some jeans and T-shirts, but not many. The feeling is, overall, reverent. Apparal is modest. The only people in suits or sport coats are the lectors and cantors. Flip-flops are discouraged. If we really believe we are in the presence of Christ in that sacred space, then we ought to dress respectfully.

Winter - leopard print string bikini with the fake fur trim and Ugg boots
