You should tell them that a vegetarian lifestyle is the preferred lifestyle of G-d. Adam and Eve were vegetarians, and according to the Jewish view, when the messiah comes we'll be vegetarians again. (but you don't have to tell them that part.)

Hi
I'm not a Christian I am Buddhist and I hope You don't mind me offering You an answer
In the Ten commandment It says
"Thou Shalt Not Kill"
My Fist Buddhist Precept is
"I Undertake To Observe The Precept To Refrain From Killing"
Neither of them say we can make exceptions here and there
Does it not say in The Bible that "We have dominion over the Animals" To my understanding Dominion doesn't mean we can kill them surely
A Christian terms a wrong action a Sin which is punishable[With respect This has been taken totally out of context in today's World]
Buddhist terms a wrong action an unwholesome action that invokes negative Karma Which we experience when the causal conditions are suitable for our learning
I hope I am showing the similarities
I have been a Veggie for almost twenty Years This was before I became Buddhist It was personal choice and the benefits I received are far to many to list here
We are encouraged to seek the truth before deciding on an action
I don't believe a Person needs to Christian Buddhist or any other belief to allow their common sense to dictate in what is right or wrong
I do believe we are all entitled to the truth especially with regards to what we eat as food and give to our Children
I would invite You to view this video and then decide for Yourself if You are right or wrong
Edit
Some People believe we need to eat meat for our intake of iron
This isn't true
An average Person only needs three portions of baked bean per week
May this help You

As a fellow Christian, I can assure you that you are doing nothing wrong. I myself am in the process of becoming a vegan (Meat is addicting and requires withdrawl). Our salvation is NOT based on our diet! Furthermore, God gave us dominion over the earth, but He did not tell us to abuse the creatures. I don't think eating meat is wrong, but the way we treat the animals in the process of the slaughter is horrible. In fact, world famous chef Wolfgang Puck is calling for more humane treatment of animals.
Our Lord gave the animals the ability to feel. If he wanted us to just use and abuse them, He in His mercey would have created them without a central nervous system, without emotions, and without anything that resembles life at all.
So, dont worry about what people say. In the end, you answer to the Lord, and only to Him.

"Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand". (Philippians 4:5)
If we do eat meat it should be in moderation.
In the beginning, humans were vegetarians, so I don't think it is wrong.
BUT
I don't think its wrong to eat meat either. God himself told people they could eat meat.
Although I don't think it's a sin to eat meat, I doubt that God wants us to eat as much meat as we do now. My personal opinion is that we should eat meat no more than twice a week, but others can do what they please.
In the Bible meat was usually only used for special occasions.
Such as: blessings (Genesis 27:4-31), guests (Genesis 24:33), gifts (Genesis 45:23), offerings (Exodus 29:41, 40:29, etc.), ceremonies (Exodus 12:21), and celebration (Luke 15:11-32). It is very likely that most people went days or even weeks without meat.
But look at it this way, I have never seen a verse forbidding us NOT to eat a vegetarian diet, so really, I don't think you can be condemned for it. If you can handle it, being a vegetarian is very healthy.
Romans 14: 13
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.
I will personally tell you that in my religion (LDS) we are told in our Word of Wisdom (a specific doctrine on food and drugs), to eat it sparingly. http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/89
About the killing of animals: I think if we are killing in excess or being cruel or wasteful, then it is probably wrong. However, if we weren't supposed to eat meat the lord wouldn't have told us to (if you remember, Moses received a guide for how the Israelites were supposed to eat, and it did include meat). This is a very controversial subject, and in the end you must come to your own conclusion as it is clearly not forbidden to be an omnivore or an herbivore.
Mine is that I think that meat has been very important, not only for sacrifice and the passover, but for times of famine and cold when there wasn't anything else to eat. In our day and age we have fresh food all year long, so I think cutting back on meat is desireable, and if you wish, then vegetarianism is fine too.
EDIT: I found this great quote by Hyrum Smith on using meat sparingly: "let them be sparing of the life of animals, it is pleasing saith the Lord that flesh be used only in times of winter, or of famine."

No, you are right in being the person you are. You are who you are. If you are Christian, then you most likely believe that God made you. The creator also made people with different viewpoints. That must be part of his plan. Sometimes there is no right or wrong answers just a difference in personal preference.
Also, one should point out that God made other forms of food (i.e. vegetables) for people to eat.
My daughter is a vegetarian for the same reason that you stated above. She recently forwarded an article to me about the possibility of "growing" meat without killing animals. It's an interesting idea and I'll share the link below.
Take care...you are who you are and it is perfectly you.

It all depends on the person. Some people feel the way you do and some people don't. We all have the right to our opinions and you should stick up for yours and don't let anyone try to bully you about it. I recently became a vegetarian because of how badly the meat industry treats animals that are going to be slaughtered. Animals that are going to be used for food are treated horribly and there are no laws to protect them. It really sickened me and I decided I was no longer going to support it by stopping eating meat. My family has all taken their turns making stupid jokes about it and making bets to see how long I was gonna last. Well it's been since June and I still haven't eaten meat :) Stick up for what you believe in and don't take any crap off of anyone.

People take the scriptures and take them out of the context they were written in and try to make them say things that they want them to say. God gave dietary laws for the Jewish nation to live by. but those laws no longer apply and they never applied to the Gentile nations. Feel free to eat or not eat whatever you desire. We would probably all be a lot healthier if we too would eat less meat, It is filled with growth hormones and additives.
By the way God gave 3 types of laws to the Jews
1. Civil laws
2. Moral laws
3. Ceremonial laws
Guess which one Jesus did away with at the cross.

No your not wrong at all, your food diet choices are not mandated by god. These christians just like to place rules and regulations on every aspect of human life to make it that much more difficult for one to live. I was raised a southern Baptist, Trust me I know and have heard all the crazy crap some can come out with. The only thing your doing is missing out on a good bacon cheese burger in my opinion. God Loves you regardless so dont worry or feel guilty your doing what you need to do for you.
Good Luck
and be who you are.

I guess being a vegetarian is your own personal choice. I don't think it's a sin to be a vegetarian. However, the Bible does not say that it's wrong to eat animals.
Everyone, animals included, were vegetarians until the flood. Afterward, God told people that they could have the animals for meat, but in return, the animals would become carnivorous as well (and would hunt them if they could).

According to the bible, God made all people vegetarians originally. Then the flood happened, and He gave the green light to eat meat. If you read it, it sounds more like he was coming up with a solution to a problem. Problem over, solution no longer needed. The Bible has no stance on vegetarianism. People who are telling you otherwise are just using Christianity to preach their own beliefs on you.

The bible says that God put animals on Earth for humans. I believe that eating meat is not wrong. I don't think that being a vegetarian is wrong either. Would God be angry at you for not eating animals? No, that wouldn't make sense. It is true though, that humans can't really live without meat or fish. You need to have proteins to live and be healthy that are in fish and other animals.
