I'm not talking about atheists, necessarily.

I'm talking about people who have a definite belief in something, but can't seem to find a path.

I have often wondered the same thing. I suppose you a) have to be listening/or want to listen and b) you simply get called or you don't.
My atheist friends will rip this apart LOL but it's what I have come up with.

Your question seems to be more about institutional religion. Some people are indoctrinated with religion from an early age.
Their path probably may come easy if they hadn't rebel against their religious teachings. A person's life experiences and upbringing would probably be a better determinant as to how one will or won't come easy to religion. Philosophically, beliefs are powerful things. And in general people act more out of their beliefs than a particular thought. I not just talking about religious beliefs but any beliefs. If a person does not believe in him or herself that will affect their self-esteem and how they interpret and understand their life and the rest of the world. I will leave you with this profound quote from, Napoleon Hill, "We are where we are because of our established habits of thoughts and deeds". And our thoughts are directly and inversely related to our beliefs. You believe because of what you think, and think because of what you believe. In every belief there must be some type of proof or rational to believe. Many people believe in God because its a substitute for the unknown. I am not taking a side whether their is a God or not, I am only explaining that this is the nature of man.

I will substitute belief in ...., and I will answer this question.
I feel it is because the egoic mind has had and continues to have less grip on one.
The heart is stronger, able to hold to what it feels.

Maybe it is around the time when young that ones choice of following the mind, or having the nurture to follow the hearts response, enables the choices made through life.
Maybe there is something prior to this, which holds the being, holds some knowing of ancientness, knowledge of heart, that endures the birth process.
The mindedness of some is difficult for me to comprehend also.

A great question.
Bright blessings

There is a promise Jesus gave, that if we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him. That is a guarantee.
Are you willing to go the extra mile, do whatever it takes?

Christ gave a couple parables, one, a man found a treasure in a field, went and sold all he had and bought the field in order to possess the treasure. Another man sought out pearls in his trade, and when he found one pearl of great price, he sold all to buy it.
The point is, one can "stumble" on it but recognizes the value, another can seek it out, but also recognizes the value.
What value do you put on knowing God?
Make it your every effort. He is worth everything and more.
I cannot put into words all He means to me, to us, to anyone.

We were warned in Jude 3 about false teachers. The way is made harder to see. There is much confusion these days with so many voices seemingly saying different things. The only thing to do to know the path, is to seek Jesus. He does make the crooked straight. He is the light for your feet to see where to walk.

According to the ancient Vedic wisdom which are the original "How to" books which came with the material Creation by God. He is also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls. We the soul are never born nor ever die. But we all have free will. Those who have envied Gods piston fall to the material creation (which God made for those who want to try to lord it over material nature and live separate from Him.) Due to the material covering called Maya which puts us in illusion so we can think we are separate from God (which no one is in actuality) only the veils of Mayas' illusion make us think we are separate from Him. After many lifetimes, those who have exhausted their material desires begin to question their existence and relationship to God. They are the ones following some type of religion and trying to make it back home. Those who do not are those who are in very deep illusion and think that they can be happy in this false identity. (Not) They will flounder around life after life until they also come to the point of discontentment and frustration and boredom with this place and ultimately surrender. Ultimately everyone surrenders. It's a process. I am working my way back HOME this time. Thanks for asking. Real Peace.

The human never finds the path!
The path finds and calls the human!

A student never finds the teacher!
The teacher finds and calls the student!

This happens when the student is ready, and not before!
When the fruit is ripe only then can it be picked!

Patience is the key.
Preparation leads to Patience.
Patience leads to contentment.

Faith in something other than the self, is a prerequisite!

"Peace be always with you."

I dont quite know what u mean when u say it come easily. i dont really think its easy for anyone, then again, it depends on the religion. in regard to christians, while it may apper that they are perfectly happy and life is great, they too face problems. the difference is that they have someone to turn to that is greater than them and cares about their life. they dont have to take on the problems on their own.
as to finding a path, there is only one path that makes since to me after looking at all other religions, and that is the one that says there is only one way to heaven. i wouldn't want a religion that gave me many paths.....how would i know i'm on the right one??? i trust in Jesus Christ for my life, and i wouldnt want to trust anyone else. he has stayed faithful to me even when i haven't.

People are differentt and we all have a different path in life to follow.

We all don't go down the same path at the same time....that's what's so great about us as a people.

Even those of us who don't believe came upon this revelation in our lives at different times and from differen perspectives.

You must be talking about FAITH. It's different than belief. Faith is something fostered through knowledge applied, which is wisdom. Faith takes practice. And I'm not just talking about the faith that God is out there somewhere. I;m talking about the Faith that everything is right and just in your life and it unfolds exactly as it should good or bad. Faith is as such.

Is it religion or is it faith in God?
When you exercise faith in God, then you are strengthened by Him.
To exercise faith is to do something positive with it--tell it out to others so that all sorts of people can be drawn to God.
Then the path will materialize in front of you.
