I don't mean to offend anyone. I work in a Subway resturant and we have a Subway radio station which broadcasts from satalite to many Subway stores. This holiday season, I was surprised to hear many Christmas songs that mentioned Jesus. Examples: What Child Is This?, Silent Night, Oh Holy Night, etc. So far, no one has commented on it, even though all customers cannot be Christians.
So my question is, since you don't believe in Jesus, do you get offended when you hear this music and how to you deal with it?

No. Not in the slightest. I love christmas music. Even the religious songs. It's all part of the holiday that, to me, is about family and giving. In my mind, songs about Jesus are just like songs about Santa: I don't think either are real but they're both part of the christmas theme.

I generally like Christmas songs...I was raised with them ever since I was young. How can you not like Nat King Cole sing these songs...or other classic singers? On the other hand, some versions are painful to listen to, as the singer(s) seems to force the lyrics or is just plain bad. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I enjoy the songs as long as they're done well.
And that is one thing I will credit to Christianity (and other religions)...the immense contribution they have given to music.

i am a Muslim and i hear music like that all the time i do not get offended but i get kind of annoyed i am not into music and those songs are so catchy i keep singing them all day and that is pretty frustrating. if i hear music like that i do not go out of my way to make them stop i do not go around and force people into my beliefs i simply ignore it. there are some things about me that i bet people do not like so why just not let them do what they want.it is pretty sad when i see such bright people that really believe that Jesus is god his son and an holy spirit because to me it makes no sense. i am not an extremist.

No, in the same way that songs that promote a certain political message i don't happen to adhere to don't offend me. It's music and someone personal ideas - who am i (or anyone for that matter) to be offended by someone elses thoughts. We all have the right to believe whatever we want - we don NOT all have the right however to expect the world to cater to our personal belief systems.

No. I'm pagan and one of my favorite songs is O Holy Night. I can appreciate the music with out believing in Jesus. And besides with all those songs comes Deck the Halls and Here we go a wassailing (Norse by the way. Sorry I couldn't help myself) stuff that's not very Christian at all....who cares?

It doesn't offend me in the slightest...but a lot of it annoys me, only because after spending two Christmas seasons working in a mall, my brain just can't handle hearing them anymore. LOL (Playing Christmas music ad nauseum 80 hours a week is a treatment that's prohibited by the Geneva Convention for POW's, but it's ok for retail employees...)

No.
My two favorites songs are "For Unto Us a Child is Born" and "Mary's Boy Child" by Bony M.
I also like Karen Carpenter singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and David Bowie and Bing Crosby doing "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy."

I don't get offended, but most Xmas music is annoying as hell.
If the songs were any good, they'd be played all year round.
I'm usually completely fed up with Xmas music by the second week of November.

Why would we be offended. We do know that most Americans are Christian. However, that doesn't mean I like listening to nothing but Christmas music for the entire month. Do they ever write new ones?

I prefer religious Christmas music to secular Christmas music, as a rule of thumb. But that's more of an indictment of modern popular music rather than some sort of hidden longing for God.
