this is a graph depicting how much support is given to same-sex marriage by church goers based on church attendance:

i think this is a good representative of how conditioning by church manipulates our thoughts and attitudes toward individualism.

any thoughts?

it's not a loaded question. i simply stated my opinion and asked for others.

and i'm not asking what the bible says. i know what the bible says. what i am asking is for you christians to realize that your thoughts are not your own.

if you could think for yourselves, you would know that discrimination against gays is wrong and you would act accordingly.

I think that is a really interesting graph, but I also think that you have to look at it both ways. Does the church make people more opposed to gay marriage or do those who oppose gay marriage more strongly go to church more frequently...

honestly it doesn't matter how you look at it, opposing gay marriage, in my opinion, is oppression.

First of all, its hard to tell simply from looking at that graph that the results are due to "conditioning by churches". The graph does not show what types of churches were polled, or the age groups polled, or the types of questions given to the respondees. So without specific facts, anyone can make that graph say what they want it to say. Do you have a link to the facts?

Marriage under the law or marriage under God,s Law.
There is a big difference. Just because the politicians can be manipulated into making something legal does not make it right. Romans chapter 1

"MANIPULATES" is a LOADED term, m'dear and you should AVOID using such terminology at all costs, especially if you wish to be taken SERIOUSLY!

Same sex marriages are against Biblical principles regardless of church affiliations. Please read the article from "gotquestions.org" cited below for the complete reasoning why it is considered so.

Remember the famous quotation aattributed to Benjamin Disraeli by Mark Twain, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

I would rather believe in God than in statistics!

Have a blessed day.

It does appear to be by frequency of church attendance.

Is it that people who don't attend frequent church services become more open minded, or that open minded people attend church less?

Looking at other answers here, I can't help but tell you - you pious, UNchristian religious types make me sick. How DARE you position yourself as better than anyone else! It is clear to me that you are a living abomination of the true teachings of Jesus with your staggeringly selfish and self-righteous attitudes.

It would satisfy me if they changes it to gay companionship. It is ridicules that some people still think like this. Two people of same sex can't be married. It would be similar to a right hand threaded bolt trying to marry a left handed threaded nut.

Wake up buddy, religion does more than that. Anyway, lots of non-religious people don't like gays too.

Gay marriage does not exist.

That's not conditioning, it's a fact.

For centuries, gays were content to cohabit (like heterosexuals) and live their lives.

Now they attempt to attack society by debasing the concept of marriage.

Don't say that we can't apply morals to marriage.

We already have moral standards for marriage.

You can't marry unless you're both 18.

You can't marry more than one person.

You can't marry your horse, chair or elbow.

You can only marry a member of the opposite sex.

Sorry.

yeah, christians are really weird when it comes to this subject. After all the book that speaks out against gays, Leviticus, is the same book that tells you to stone to death those in your family who do not believe in Yahweh. It also illustrates the manner in which one should sprinkle blood around the alter to atone for sins.

Christians, answer me this, why do you hold on to the anti gay parts of leviticus, but don't kill your family or sacrifice cows?
