~he tries to make me jealous
~he talks to me, even though he knows that i like him.
~he wanted my number so he could text me.
~i've asked him to hang out a couple times (at lunch, during school hours); each time he said no....
~he thinks that i am afraid of a little competition
~according to my friends, whenever i turn away, he stares at me, but when i look at him, he's never looking at me.
~his friend was at his house(and pretended to be the guy that i like), and asked me if i wanted to make out with him.
~we talk a lot on MSN.
~we say hi to each other in school, everytime i see him.
~a couple days ago his best friend was like, HI SAM'S LOVER to me.
~his friends [guys + girls] seem to know my name.
~he told me that he talks about me with his friends.
~we flirt a lot... over MSN. lawl
please help me out here!

Sounds like he likes you...alot, just shy and knows his friends will nag him. You say he has gotten to know you via text, etc., so he sure is wasting a lot of time if he's not interested. He talks about you to his friends, also sure sign of interest. Try asking him to hang out AFTER school hours. Maybe that's the key, away from peer pressure, just the 2 of you....but somewhere public and keep it simple. If he says "no", don't ask again, the ball is now in his court.
If he tries to "make you jealous" my best advice is to ignore it, that drives guys crazy to not be noticed when they are trying hard to get your attention. Don't let him think acting disrespectfully is ok, you will reward bad behavior.

i am not saying this in a mean way at all cuz im not that kind of person.
but honestly, i don't think he likes you.
because like you said he knows you like him
so he might have told his friends so they say hey sams lover to you
cuz its natural for guys to flirt too, so don't be shocked about that
but from what he told you about how he talks about you with his friends there could be something there
but from everything else you said they are typical guy moves, to me it seems that way
but then again i don't know him and that could be his way of telling you he likes you
so don't give up
