So that we could know good. Can you know darkness without knowing light? Can you know cold without knowing heat? If there was no evil in the world than we, as humans, would not be choosing to follow God, there would be no other alternative. Satan exists so that we can realize how good and holy God is.
God didn't make you suffer. God gave us free choice. It is the choices that people make that resulted in your suffering, not God. God allows us to choose good or evil. In order for us to make that choice, there must be good and evil in the world.

"That he is Lord of all, and there is nothing done without him (Isaiah 45:7): I form the light, which is grateful and pleasing, and I create darkness, which is grievous and unpleasing. I make peace (put here for all good) and I create evil, not the evil of sin (God is not the author of that), but the evil of punishment. I the Lord order, and direct, and do all these things."
(from 1st article cited below)... the following is from the 2nd article cited below:
At first it might seem that if God created all things then evil must have been created by God. However, there is an assumption here that needs to be cleared up. Evil is not a "thing" - like a rock or electricity. You can't have a jar of evil! Rather, evil is something that occurs, like running. Evil has no existence of its own - it is really a lack in a good thing. For example, holes are real but they only exist in something else. We call the absence of dirt a hole - but it cannot be separated from the dirt. So when God created, it is true that all that existed was good. One of the good things that God made was creatures who had the freedom to choose good. In order to have a real choice, God had to allow there to be something besides good to choose. So God allowed these free angels and humans to choose good or non-good (evil). When a bad relationship exists between two good things we call that evil, but it does not become a "thing" that required God to create it.
Perhaps a further illustration will help. If I were to ask the average person "does cold exist?" - his/her answer would likely be yes. However, this is incorrect. Cold does not exist. Cold is the absence of heat. Similarly, darkness does not exist. Darkness is the absence of light. Similarly, evil is the absence of good, or better, evil is the absence of God. God did not have to create evil, but rather only allow for the absence of good.
Have a blessed day.

How would people be able to recognize goodness if there were no evil with which to compare it? It is a kind of polarity and is related to contrast; for example, one can not see either in total darkness or in total brightness, but only by contrasting the two can vision occur.
As an agnostic, I do not actually accept the concept that God created evil but, rather, think that human beings indulge in the entire gamut of behavior, pure goodness being the unattainable ideal, and unremitting evil likely also being nonexistent. The majority of humans display evidence for both good and evil.

there is often been a controversy between theists no remember if evil is a separate stress or only the absence of sturdy. many faiths have a 'manichaean' view of two 'gods', one sturdy and one evil, who conflict over the earth. some Christians see it this way, with God and the devil locked in attempt against, the earth putting interior the stability. inspect how important the devil is to three styles of Christianity! If evil replaced into only the absence of sturdy, he does not be important in any respect. religious doctrines and scriptures are regularly inquisitive approximately explaining why, if God is proper and all his creations are proper, why existence on earth is so imperfect. one thank you to describe that's to make certain that there is a devil who has an evil effect interior the worldwide, offering evil possibilities only as God components sturdy ones, and guy has 'unfastened will' to bypass the two way. CS Lewis had an exciting way of gazing it (and that i desire i could desire to tell you which of them e book yet they have all form of melted jointly in my suggestions considering that I study them years in the past). He stated there have been incredibly 2 sorts of evil practiced by utilising human beings. One is -genuine- evil--greed, anger, etc., the element that makes human beings elect to actively injury one yet another. the different is only our 'animal nature'--laziness, selfishness, the unawareness of the desires of others.

God is the universal spirit that holds together the universe to a workable degree, and has creative and harmonious energy. The universe is not perfect, we are not perfect, nothing is perfect. Life is a challenge, and it is meant to be this way. The struggle of life and dealing with its imperfections, brings out the most in the human spirit, and makes us have to work to earn our character and results. Life would be dull, if we did not have to overcome something that was difficult. One needs to get spiritually strong. Meditation/prayer, mind-body exercises, healthy eating, not overindulging, and looking for good inspiration from all possible sources, can help. God is here, to inspire and guide us. We must do the work. The world could be so much a better place, if people would really work at addresssing the serious problems we have in this world. I don't believe in an escapist after life, I believe we stay in this reality with its struggle and reincarnate continuously.

You are reading that Scripture out of context and many refer to this Scripture to accuse God of creating "evil". The bottom line is, since God created all things, evil was the result of His giving man free will/choice. This particular passage shows that God is talking about Koresh (Cyrus), while at the same time, showing us that God is in charge because He is the ONLY God. I always wonder why nobody ever puts the blame on satan. Because after all he is the creator of all that is evil.

From a Jewish/Hebrew perspective God created everything. From a Greek perspective he only created good and not evil.
The Jewish/Hebrew perspective is that God is like a circle which encompasses everything within the circle.
A Greek philosophy compartmentalizes everything into separate compartments.

He didnt create evil. It is the work of the devil. People are not perfect. In the beginning, God formed Adam and Eve, they chose to start evil through the Devil. God is love not evil.

How can you grow as a being if you don't learn how to overcome adversity. Also by the very nature of creating light there will be a shadow cast somewhere it is unavoidable.
