I am wanting to get granite counter tops put in to a house I am buying. We also will need a new sink since the existing one is black and will not coordinate with the new counters. My question is, does the new sink we choose need to be the same size as the old one?

no, you will need to get your sink first so they (granite people) can get the measurements and cut the hole in the granite to fit the sink...i just went thru this...i purchased a stainless steel sink (at the same place where i purchased my granite) and the sames goes for your cooktop... if you go that route...good luck

Your new sink can be different than your old one but you must select it before you have the counter tops made. Your sink size may be limited by the cabinet base where the sink will be mounted. If you have a 33" sink base you can't use a 44" wide sink.

One point:

Countertops that are long usually have an epoxy glued joint in them. This is fine, but make sure when they measure for the counter tops and sink that they know not to put the joint where they will be cutting out for the sinks. If they do; the joint left after cutting won't be strong enough and may separate.
