I got a tattoo on my foot last night. This is my second tattoo. But, since it is on the top of my foot, I am not sure if the after care is exactly the same. I know I have to keep it moist, and try not to rub it and stuff..
But.. is it better to cover the moist tattoo it with a plastic baggie? Or with medical gauze?

Thanks in advance

The reason I would like to know if I should cover it or not, is because it is winter here in Illinois, and I usually ware socks to work.. So.. Should I cover it with A&D and plastic, then sock? A&D medical gauze and then sock? Or just A&D and Sock?

Aftercare is the same with any tattoo.
You don't need to cover it with anything except for putting A&D on it a few times a day.

Edit - wow you picked some bad timing to get a tattoo, hehe.
Just make sure your sock is clean and you should be fine.. it might hurt pretty good the first week or two though.

I have one on the top of my foot, It's the same as any other tattoo. Just try not to wear socks and shoes when you can. It does rub against it and kinda irritate it a bit. But it's the same as the others. Do not cover it. Tattoos are like cuts, they need air to heal.

Do not re-cover the tattoo. Follow the same aftercare instructions given to you. You might want to take lotion along with you to work/school to re-apply throughout the day.

Also, as a side note, be sure to protect your tattoo from the sun. Lots of people forget this. Get a sunblock stick and apply it before going into the sun or artificially tanning. Tattoos on the foot are especially prone to fading!

bad timing for the temperature there, I would not cover it and would take care to wear shoes that will not constantly rub on it until it heals
