A genotype is the genes (or more correctly alleles, but your teacher may not use this word) that an organism has. Since you're probably dealing with organisms with two chromosomes, there should be a pair of genes for each trait.

A phenotype is what the organism looks like (how the genes are expressed).

For example, lets say R makes a flower be red, and r mean it will be white. Red is dominant over white.

So for genotypes, you could have the combinations of RR, Rr, or rr.

But for phenotypes, the RR and Rr would both have red flowers and only the rr would have white ones.

Just remember that letters will be a genotype but characteristic names (colors, textures[wrinkly, smooth, curly, straight], heights, lengths, etc.) are phenotypes.

genotype is a depiction of the allels of the organism so in case you describe a mutant allel and anticipate something of the animal is wildtype you're describing the genotype. The phenotype is in lots of situations the effects of those genes, yet is maximum wisely the define of a sequence of actual attributes or behaviors. using PCR to strengthen a gene, and then visualizing the consequent with electrophoresis turns a genotype right into a pcr phenotype.
