I have made a deal with a friend to give up beer for the next 30 days.
Maybe it's because we just returned from a business trip in Las Vegas where far too much abuse of the liver took place or maybe it's due to the ever growing beer belly.
Either way I have made a deal that I will not consume beer or alcohol for the next 30 days.
I have done quite a bit of walking and a little bit of exercise on the heavy bag but nothing serious. Today's weigh-in was at 270 pounds, down 5 pounds from a few weeks ago.
The slight drop in weight I think is mainly due to giving up late night snacking, drinking a little less beer and avoid carbonated beverages.
That's about it for now but I will keep you posted on how things are working out with the "no beer for a month" pact!
I think drinking no beer will work.

Honey, i am not a beer drinker; however, i do know if you cut out those beers, with your meal, granted you dinner is healthy, portioned controlled (meaning not seconds, and third), balanced, with a one protein, two veggies, and one carb, you can switch it up to fit you, and definitely not to eat late, and then go to sleep within one hour after you eat. you will lose alot of weight. Beer has a lot of sugar in it, probably as much as drinking a can of soda, or even more. But if you just cut out the beer, and saw yourself drop say 10 lbs. i bet it would encourage you to do more. If you are married, or have a girlfriend, get her involved, it will be more fun, and more enjoyable later on.
Oh, my husbands a beer drinker, and he had the belly and everything, he's cutting back, its been about 2wks, and he's dropped 4 pounds.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Actually yes you probably will lose a little bit of weight. Drinking beer is alot like drinking soda. If you eat healthy and cut out all unecessary drinks (beer, soda, sugary drinks like kool-aide) it's alot easier to drop the few unwanted pounds.

Beer is really high in calories, if you cut back, the adverage beer having 300-1500 calories, which is like eating an American big mac (at 1500 calories), you will be saving your body from the weight of an additional big mac everyday. Im sure you've seen 'supersize me' if not check it out and see the huge impact that something like a big mac a day can have on your health
Moderation is key!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

Beer is full of empty carbs. that means these carbs don't give you energy to burn fat.
But I really don't think skipping your beer before dinner will help you lose wieght cuz beer is not very fattening in moderation.

The more carbs - beer! breads, pasta, almost everything tasty you cut out and do not replace will help.
think of a teeter-totter one side is food and the other energy to burn it, if you consume more food carbs, than you burn it's turned into FAT, less food more energy and the lever tilts and burns up fat in your body.
Try walking and drinking more water too, to help burn more and cleanse the body
