I had a bad toothache, and a bad cold over the past few days. I have been taking Advil and cough medicine at the same time, I have never had any problem with Advil before, I am in my late 40's, I have been taking approx 8 Advil a day about 6 hours apart, this morning I woke up with bad stomach pain. I have heard that two much Advil can upset the stomach. After I ate something in the afternoon my stomach felt alot better. My stomach has not bothered me since its been almost 12 hours. I figured I would wait 24 hours before I took more Advil if my tooth still hurt. My cold is all better, tomorrow I go to the dentist. Do you think I overdid it with the Advil it has never bothered me before.

You took it according with the direction, but Advil contain Ibuprofen, and it irritates the stomach, some times even bleeding. I have a tooth ache my self, and I take Aleve liquid caps, and it last 12 hours. Usually, the tooth ache is caused by bacteria, and now I take antibiotics too.

You really should not take advil (ibuprofen) like it's candy. It's a drug, a chemical, and it can have adverse side effects. As someone else has mentioned it can cause bleeding of the stomach. It can also raise your blood pressure and increase your risk for heart attack and stroke. You and your friend need to immediately stop taking a bunch of advil just for fun, it's not safe.

Yes, you over did it. Advil is not good for the stomach. Ease up on that.

TAKING EIGHT 200mg TABLETS WILL MAKE IT 1,600mg OF IBUPROFEN.
800 mg EVERY 4-6 HOURS IS A SAFE DOSAGE. TAKING MORE WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR LIVER. YOU'RE PROBABLY SAFE FOR NOW, BUT DON'T REPEAT THIS AS A HABIT.
