One of my friends says that I can not be considered a hunter, because I only go after small game. My parents won't let me buy a rifle or shotgun either, so I hunt with things like a pistol crossbow, blowgun and slingshot. What do you guys think?

In response to the ignorant Texas sheriff, I always eat what I kill, and I would not have it any other way. I always clean the skull and keep that as a trophy too.

Hunter does not mean using a rifle or this or that. A hunter is just skills, knowlege, and your more of a hunter than him because what you do takes lots of skill. Tell him to shoot a rabbit with a blowgun or a slingshot. That kid is ignorent in the Scence that he doesnt know what he is talking about. Yes i would concider you a hunter.

I'm not a guy, but would the daughter, sister, wife and mother of hunters do?
Every good hunter has to start with small game and work up to big game, in order to perfect his skills.
Don't let your friend discourage you.

Hunting is the practice of pursuing animals for food, recreation, trade or for their resources. In modern use, the term refers to regulated and legal hunting, as distinguished from poaching, which is the killing, trapping or capture of animals contrary to law. Hunted animals are referred to as game animals, and are usually large, or small mammals or migratory birds
By that definition, you are a hunter and anyone who says otherwise needs more education !
