All donations are tested. The questionaire helps them determine people who have engaged in high risk activities that makes them a high likelihood to test positive, so they don't donateif you took 100 donations and 10 of those were infected, you had to pay for 100 tests, whereas if you can narrow it down to say 91 and only 1 comes back positive, you still got the 90 good donations and only paid for 91 tests instead of 100.

The American Red Cross sponsors all the blood drives in Connecticut. Blood which is collected goes through several tests before it is approved for patient use or refraction( separation into components). As many as five people may benefit from the pint donation.Tests include those for HIV,Lyme Disease and a host of other specific maladys as well as for iron content and clotting time. The only reliance on the questionnaire is for travel outside the US or Canada, homosexual or heterosexual contact with a prostitute.

It is tested. A young hemiphiliac boy rec'd a tainted transfusion (aids) and he died of aids later in his life. Also tested for other venereal diseases and other deadly diseases.

It is most definitely tested. I am not sure if they test it themselves, but it is tested somewhere along the line before anybody gets it.
