I'm not sure.
To be honest, I just became an adult. I can say that I would, but I'd probably care more about someone I love as opposed to a complete stranger. And risking one's life is less problematic than entering into a situation where you know death is certain, like jumping in front of a train. Who really knows how people would react in that situation?

Yep.Was a corpsmen in the Navy,then a paramedic for close to 20 years.I put my butt on the line a lot of times for other people over the years. And I remained an atheist even when my life was in danger.

Of course. It is completely logical to give the remainder of your life for the longer future of a child! We also could not justify ignoring the child's peril by considering their life or death to be simply the will of God.

Yes. Why single out atheists in your question? I'm so sick of people assuming that just because you are an atheist you have no moral center, or don't care about others.

Yes, as readily as anyone else anywhere. I don't look forward to such a thing, but I would risk my life for another person and if I died in the process, so be it.

If there was no other way to save the child, yes. I suppose realistically the question would be "would you RISK your life," and there the answer is yes.
