Many people feel the need to attack me and my religion. Why?

And to those of you who are going to personally attack me and my religion in your answers, thanks for proving my point.

I want to say that I praise your conviction and wish you all the best. No one study's the scriptures more than the LDS and no one believes more in asking God when we have questions. And frankly if you are not willing to ask God if what you believe is true there can be only one reason. You are afraid of the truth.

God bless.

I don't feel the need to attack you because of your religion.

Many, if not most, people feel very passionate about their religious beliefs and therefore tend to attack opposing views.

I would like to know why you believe what you believe. How do you know that Joseph Smith truly had an encounter with Jesus Christ? How do you know that the Book of Mormon and your other holy books are true and reliable?

How do you reconcile the Biblical account of creation and the New Testament gospel accounts of Jesus Christ's claims to be God?

If mormonism does not believe that Jesus is in fact, God incarnate, then why do mormons call themselves Christian?

I would like to engage in a sincere effort to understand each other.

Nothing's wrong with being LDS, my friend.

Many critics have been misinformed by those in positions of power over them. The good news is that many Christian leaders are starting to see this and correct it.
One famous example is the Baptist president of Fuller Theological Seminary, Richard Mouw, standing up and saying the following:

"I am now convinced that we evangelicals have often seriously misrepresented the beliefs and practices of the Mormon community. Indeed, let me state it bluntly to the LDS folks here this evening: we have sinned against you. The God of the Scriptures makes it clear that it is a terrible thing to bear false witness against our neighbors, and we have been guilty of that sort of transgression in things we have said about you. We have told you what you believe without making a sincere effort first of all to ask you what you believe."

Mouw is not the only Christian calling for moderation. Similar pleas have been issued by David Rowe, Carl Mosser, Francis J. Beckwith, Paul Owen, Craig Blomberg, and others.

Happy for you, but what is a Mormon and how does being a Mormon make a difference and what is the difference?

I think some people who approached me before were from the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints and I am not sure that they were Mormons but they speak of a Jesus too and I notice that their concept of Jesus was a Clint Eastwood type character who wore factory-made sandals.

If this is being a Mormon then wish you happy Jesusism!

Nothing is wrong with that. I'm LDS too. Just remember that there is opposition in all things and that the greater the work is the stronger the opposition there is too it. You will find some genuinely interested people on here, but many of the vocal posters about out beliefs are bitter anti-Mormon people who try to take things out of context to make themselves feel better. Although I do not admire what these people do, I do feel somewhat bad for them, that they get joy out of putting people down as opposed to building people up.

As an ex Mormon. I truly believed at the time, that every time I heard the church get slammed by outsiders, that the devil was working overtime. He doesn't want anyone to know the truth, about the gospel and, to prevent them from learning the truth, he will throw roadblocks in their way.
And Satan is working overtime on stopping people from learning this truth, hence all of the insults, slurs, LIES, and bashing. Look at how many questions there are about Mormonism here, and how many of them get rude, and ignorant answers. Why is that??
Considering the hatred this church has faced from its very conception, it would tell anyone with a brain, that Satan is not happy with it and wants it stopped. because it is TRUE.
Don't condemn it until you have prayed about, and don't let Satan stop you from learning the truth.

Nothing.

All religions sound just as crazy as the others if people would just step outside their own bubbles and really look at it from an outsiders views.

All religions are cults according to the definition of cults

No one sect has any more authority than another to proclaim themselves the proclaimer of who is and isnt a christian or what biblical interpretation is only correct.

People really just cant look outside their own worlds sometimes. And many many people dont really have a clue what mormons believe or how mormons practice their religion so ignorance plays a big part in it, too.

Straw Dog -- take a deep breath and remember that the world also judged the Savior to be of naught [see Nephi] -- and look at what they did to Joseph... Imagine getting to the next existance and having the opportunity to shake Joseph's hand -- how likely would it be to make some comment about all the things he suffered to obtain his exaltation -- now imagine that giant of a man looking you in the eye, nodding and replying: "and what did you do?" All these things shall be for thine experience... The right may not always be popular, but it is still right.

I think it's great that you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I think that this is the best religion in the world. I have been a member for over 30 years, and it is the best decision that I ever made.

I feel that people attack us because they are afraid of what they do not know. They do not know what our religion is, and are actually afraid to ask. They would rather believe the lies told by others.

Satan is at work in this. He is on the sidelines telling the lies, and pushing them to attack us. Satan doesn't want us to win, but we know that win we will, in the fulness of times.

I am a Christian, and I disagree with a few things that mormons teach. However I have no wish to attack you, or what you believe.
