have they ever even been in one? I come from a military family. Dad, father in laws, grandfathers, husband (disabled vet in war time), two brother in laws....I grew up with it and around it. And I can tell you, that foxholes make atheist far more then they make Christians. Why are people so convinced there are no atheist in foxholes? My husband said it only reinforced his atheism.

I'm not saying it hasn't happened. I'm sure it has. But I'm just saying that Christians go athiest on the front line WAY more then the other way around. Anyone who says otherwise has never been on the front line.

Two answers man if you are going to tell someone how lame and stupid they are, please learn how to spell. I'm not insulting your beliefs. If God brings you peace, so be it. Just don't lie.

Oh....not everyone's ancestors were pagans? There were Christians before 2000 years ago? Jews came along about 3000 BCE...so before them, not everyone was pagans? Hahahahah

You are 100% Wrong. My entire family was in the Military and there is not one of them that came out of a foxhole as an un-believer. We all went into the front lines as a Christian and came out stronger then ever. So you prove one point, once the family is Athiests, that is exactly what they all come out as. Our Family is pure Christian and there is nothing that could change our wonderful thoughts and Beliefs in God the Father. Oh and by the way. My Ancestors were Pagans and I certainly am right in regards to how they did live. I don't know how you practice being a pagan, but I do know how my Ancestors did. I don't wish anything bad on you, I am just telling you my side of the knowledge about Pagans. I did read you question and you need to cool it. And again your wrong. Your husband was a foxhole Athiest . Big deal. Not everyone was a Pagan. Wrong again.

I suspect this is an exaggeration of the truth. And I doubt you have ever been in a fox hole or a death bed. I have known bigger guys than what you say your are that could not swim against a 5 mph cuurent with an undertow. The were both SEALS and swam the ocean- but the river got them both.

Not everyone responds the same way when confronted with a bad situation. For some people, it hardens them and for others it makes them feel more in need of outside support.

It's based on the popular Christian claim that all atheists will suddenly believe in God and start praying when their life is on the line.
It's just something that some Christians like to tell each other, so they can pat themselves on the back and feel superior. It has no basis in fact.

I think it's just a saying people use to make the false claim that when confronted with death atheists start praying.
Personally, I've never seen an atheist pray.

generalizations can be so much fun when they're used ironically, but people who use this one seem to think it's not contradictory. boring.
