Though I am neither, I believe being spiritual but not religious means you believe that there's more to this physical earth and being without believing in any deity, judgment day or whatnot. Though some people who belong to a religion say that when what they really mean is, they are not strictly practicing what their religion practices such as regularly going to church/service, and other observances. They mean that they believe but do not practice. Religion is a belief system, it may not be organized as the Catholic Church or the Church or Latter Day Saints, etc. Others even aver that atheism itself is a religion. If that is so, religion would not strictly mean believing in a supreme spiritual being as atheists don't.

I guess for most people who consider themselves spiritual but not religious, it means that they are interested in learning about the spiritual aspects of life, and in caring for their own spiritual life, but they prefer to do it by themselves, without the leadership (or lack thereof, depending on how you feel about it) of an organization.

It's certainly possible. You can believe in God but not subscribe to any of the big three G-d religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam).

Take a walk in the woods, sit on a log and relax. Smell the air, feel the bark, listen to the sounds. Meditate. Soak it in! Think about "filling your tank" with quiet, and keep it tucked away in your memory as you return to your 9 to 5 job.

Spirituality without religion. Perhaps you can call it Buddhism, Taoism, or even touching on Wicca, but if one follows their own desires instead of those given or forced on them, why do so many insist that it must be named?

I can only answer for myself. Others may try to answer for all of us, but that won't be right.

To me, spiritual is my personal relationship with God. Religious to me is the actions people build around talking about their personal relationship with God. Religion has rules. God rules in Spirit. That's a noun vs. a verb and in my book action and power speak over a minor construct every time. God's will be done. And so it is evermore.

To be spiritual without being religious is not to follow the rituals of a particular organized sect of faith called religion but to believe in formless and nameless God and mentally worship Him.

You trust more in the Divine/God's love and wisdom in your heart then in church doctrine. A spiritual person feels the Divine with them all the time, not just in church.
