what program can resize only the width of the picture?

the height is okay, but when i press "resize", the height & width are smaller and when i upload them on myspace, it looks like an icon.

Almost all image editing programs let you resize in one direction. Photoshop and Elements, gimp, irfanview.

You just have to make sure you uncheck the box that will say something like "Constrain Proportions" or "Preserve aspect ratio"

Use the Paint application that got here with home windows if you haven't any snapshot application...simply open up the snapshot with Paint then click on Image...then decide on Resize/skew.. and Resize it.
