I saw it on the news & im kind of going through the same thing.

Actually this situation has come up several times already and I know that it has not always ended in the deployed troop's favor. Let your First Sergeant or Top Sergeant know as well as your commander and the mobility officer of your unit. Several states have enacted some legislation concerning this to protect the rights of those deployed. Also the base legal office or your legal officer should be able to give you some guidance on this so you need to contact them as well. Good luck!

Yes. Well..actually..i know of a soldier that lost custody while he was there and had to fight for it when he got home. His wife had custody of their 2 kids and she went off the deep end and committed suicide..

so social services took the kids and as soon as he could get back to the states he had to go to court to win them back..

such a sad thing...
