We've tried soaking the foot in Epsom salt to take out the soreness, but it's been three weeks, and he's still complaining about the pain! It hurts to keep to leg elevated, and when sitting for long periods of time, the whole leg hurts. He's getting very little(if any)sleep at night, and it's taking a toll. I'm out of suggestions, and he's not scheduled to see the podiatrist until Wednesday. Does anyone have any other solutions? Thanks!

not sure what's wrong yet, that's why he's going to the podiatrist.
his big toe is the source of pain, but his whole foot hurts. I looked at his toe, and the nail looks discolored. I think it could be an ingrown toenail, but I'm no doctor either. We just hope it's not gout.

Well I'm sorry to hear that he's in so much pain, I'm no expert but if he's very active athletically that is, maybe its turf toe. But to be of more help here's a link on foot pains. Take Care!

I dont normally give long answers but I think you really need help!
Well it sounds like Yo dude has Gout! that sort of thing takes a while to get over.. Im no Dr. but Im sure that he needs to go to a regular Dr. for treatment.
Gout is formed from eatting lots of sodium filled foods and meats.. rich stuff.. Crystal deposites form in the body and travel to one area to be release.. Wait.. Ill give you more to read from Web MD..
What is Gout?
Gout is a kind of arthritis. It can cause an attack of sudden burning pain, stiffness, and swelling in a joint, usually a big toe. These attacks can happen over and over unless gout is treated. Over time, they can harm your joints, tendons, and other tissues. Gout is most common in men.
What causes gout?
Gout is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. Most of the time, having too much uric acid is not harmful. Many people with high levels in their blood never get gout. But when uric acid levels in the blood are too high, the uric acid may form hard crystals in your joints.
Your chances of getting gout are higher if you are overweight, drink too much alcohol, or eat too much meat and fish that are high in chemicals called purines. Some medicines, such as water pills (diuretics), can also bring on gout.
What are the symptoms?
The most common sign of gout is a nighttime attack of swelling, tenderness, redness, and sharp pain in your big toe. You can also get gout attacks in your foot, ankle, or knees. The attacks can last a few days or many weeks before the pain goes away. Another attack may not happen for months or years.
See your doctor even if your pain from gout is gone. The buildup of uric acid that led to your gout attack can still harm your joints.
How is it treated?
To stop a gout attack quickly, your doctor can prescribe a large daily dose of one or more medicines. The doses will get smaller as your symptoms go away. Relief from a gout attack often begins within 24 hours if you start treatment right away

If you go to your local GNC or any health food store there is a natural supplement from Sanhelious called Butcher's Broom Extract (get the higher dose circucaps). They're are suppose to help with the swelling and soreness of hands, arms, legs and feet. Its fairly cheap and I think you can get it online too....Let me know how that worked out.

well I'm sorry to hear that but I think he feet are infected with something or there is a broken bone or sometimes so I will say just keep this feet or toe warm and try to let him move this toes once in a while to see if they are move or not and from that you have to wait until you see the doctor. hope he get well.

If he is a diabetic, it could be circulation. Go see a medical doctor, please.
