i hate coldsores! i get them every year, right to dry them out you can use perfume or toothpaste, personally i use perfume but it kills!! You can get cream which is called Dulac, it is for the virus, or you can use compeed also which hides the coldsore by a little patch.

The best thing I found that works 100% of the time is to go get a generic bottle of Lysine (it's sometimes called L-lysine) for $5 at the grocery store in the vitamin section. This once a day will clear up all cold sores!
