I would let them know why I was leaving, whether it be doctrinal changes, or pastorial or change of faith.
Good luck and God bless.

PS Send it registered - so they can't claim they didn't get it (from experience)

An employment letter of resignation is the same as any other letter of resignation to any other employer, no more no less.
If you are leaving a faith you do not write a letter of resignation. Why would you think you would. Please give us more details because dispite what some people say there is no roll book that they scratch your name off of. I can tell you from first hand experience (having worked in Churches) "official" letters like those just end up in the garbage can and were a waste of a stamp, because there is no formal process. If you don't want to receive newsletters or things like that just make a phone call and say take me off the _________ list no one will question you.

As someone else said, if you work there, it's just like a letter of resignation to any other employer. If you're attending a church and you wish to move your membership to another church, you can just send a brief letter saying, "I am transferring my membership from This Church to That Church. Please remove my name from your membership list." You don't owe them an explanation beyond that, unless there is a reason you wish to make known.

Are you an employee? If so, it's no different than a letter of resignation to any other employer.
If you are a member who is quitting, just quit going. You don't owe them a letter.

you simply sit down and write it just like any letter you'd write. address it to the pastor, mail it to him or give it to him privately. you simply state you are leaving the church and state the specific reasons why. when I did that once, I included a request for no one to contact me. for them to allow me to contact them. I promised I would when I felt comfortable/ready to do so. I did contact them, we are still friends. It's not the same, but that's okay w/ me. sign/date it, your done!

Simply put that you wish to remove your name from ther church
Send it to the church office of the place you joined
Do not bother to give them more explaination than that
You need not to
Simple is best
also state that you do not want further contact beyond the proof of the removal of your name

Write a letter that says
"I'm out.
P.S. Santa's not real either."
Put it in with the collection money.
Or just stop going.

start by abandoning your faith
get a pencil and a peice of paper
write whatever you want to your hearts content...
i think a simple goodbye would work...
