You two need to discuss this before you even think about getting engaged. It's very difficult to make "mixed" marriages work, particularly when one is a new convert and understandably very psyched about their newfound faith. Of course, any children would have to be raised Jewish and there could be conflicts between families re holidays.

How do your parents feel about you dating her. I was told, from personal experience that some Jewish parents would prefer that their children date other jews, white jews.

Anyway there are black jews you know.
Edit:

If she wants to do it, because she is trying to hold on to you, then DTB. You don't want to deal with the hassle when she does the "But I did this for you" route.

why does it matter that she is black? In fact the first jews were black, that's why people believe that Jesus was black.

Why not ask her why she wants to be a jew, and listen.

Let her have her say, don't interupther.

Then talk it through with her.

just remember to stay cool, shouting is not going to help.

Converting to Judaism isn't easy - Jews don't go around looking for converts like Christians.

Has she talked to a rabbi yet? Usually a rabbi who does agree to help somebody convert will require an extensive period of study and contemplation before carrying it out.

Anyway, why are you so uptight about it?

Let her become Jewish. Being black has nothing to do with being Jewish. Besides, the wedding is the bride's special day, whether you like it or not. It is yours too of course, but mostly hers.

Well, to begin with, I'm not sure what being black has to do with anything. If she's done her research and feels that converting is what she wants to do, then you shouldn't interfere. It's her Faith and her choice. You have no right to tell her what she should believe IMO, just as she has not right to dictate what you should believe.

If you have a problem with it, then it's up to you to decide if this is going to affect your relationship or not.

good luck!

Any Jew will tell you there is no need to convert to Judaism.
You can still stick with the Torah!

I agree with dobby, find a nice Christian girl and live happily ever after.

If you don't have any interest in Judaism, let your girlfriend continue with her conversion and find a Jewish boy to marry. You might be surprised to find out what Judaism has to offer!

Jew-by-choice.

Her religion doesnt matter, and I'm sure she'll be willing to compromise a little about the Jewish wedding.

whats wrong with that?
I don't see the problem, why would you want to stop her? if you can't discuss the topic or figure out the wedding to be acceptable, ... should you be getting married? no.

edit for above: "messianic jews"are not at all jewish. they are christians. please stop lying.
