I think of snapshots and portraits of people

Right now I'm reading a biography of Diane Arbus, so I thought about her work in particular.

I think film, apertures, lighting, lenses, light meters, spot meters, Kelvin scale, grey zone, film speed, negatives, developing lab, As for as capturing something in the moment, most photography is manipulating the moment. The photographer ask the person to stand or look a certain way, they set up the shot. There are some photos that are not setup like the Flag raising, but most are.

whenever i hear about photography i can't help thinking of my grandad. he was a big film canon man, used to go everywhere taking shots of everything. it wasn't till recently that i had a chance to try it for myself (was very bored and wanted to try something new) that i found out why he was into it as he was. i'm now also a canon man and i love going out and trying to capture that perfect scene. taking a great picture is addictive, satisfying, and hard work (well it is for me anyway!) i have recently taken a basic course after trying to teach myself for the last few years and am starting to realize just how much more there is to learn!! happy days. here's to many more years of learning!

When I think of poetry, it's much more then 'a poster of a girl.' A photo is a capture of a moment. It defines true beauty. It's best taken, on random occasion, and never posed for. It shows emotion, and too me, can express feelings.

Photography makes me think of life in general, and all around us.

Beauty. True beauty.

i think of not only capturing the moment, but also the story behind the photo, because pictures can often speak louder words.
