Consciousness and reality are synonymous!
That is the movement of consciousness always toward a further understanding of reality!
That being said, "Wisdom" is necessary for a human to remove the veils of illusion from within the world in which they dwell and journey into the realm of the "Unseen" which is reality! It has been said it contains a beauty that is beyond human understanding.
"Peace be always with you."

Consciousness is most likely a process in the brain and is not necessarily separated from reality.

Reality in everyday usage means "everything that exists". The term "Reality", in its widest sense, includes everything that is, whether it is observable, accessible or understandable by science, philosophy, theology or any other system of analysis. Reality in this sense may include both being and nothingness, whereas existence is often restricted to being (compare with nature).
