Look, it really was a hard decision, but lately death and darkness have been putting in that extra effort, and our promotions are strictly merit based. If life wants a promotion so bad, maybe it should think about putting in some time on the weekends.

I'm sorry, are you speaking about Christians? I would like to answer your question, but it is rather ambiguous.
After looking at the other questions you've asked, I have a question for you?:
Do you approach the Bible with a literal or symbolic interpretation? From my point of view, your questions could be easily answered if you switched from your current approach-which I see to be a literal interpretation.
