And why?
Recently, my the cat that we gave to my sister-in-law was killed. My husband loved this cat very much and he is very upset- she was a very nice kitty.
Atheists, I know majority of you do not believe in souls so we just decompose in the ground, but I'm wondering what others believe regarding to animals. Thanks!

If you believe animals have no souls, why? Do animals not feel emotions either?

The best way for me to answer your question is by telling you what I believe.
I have had numerous pets over the years, and I now a wonderful little dog, that gives our family so much joy and laughter.
I believe that all the pets I have ever had and loved, will be greeting me on the other side, together with loved one who have passed.
There are quite a few books about this and I would suggest that you read a few. TO:- Gerry - Think about what you are saying, does that suggest to you that God loves all creatures? Of course "he" does and no way would he not treat the wonderful souls of animals, the way he treats the souls of humans. I think it is so sad to believe what you said.
Also pull up RAINBOW BRIDGE on the net. It is a warm, wonderful way of describing what happens to a pet after it passes. If I were you, I would copy it, because I know for a fact that you will want to keep looking at it over the years.
TO;- TO GERRY. How sad that you would believe such a thing. Do you think that a "God" would treat his precious animals any different than he would treat us. I know animals have souls, and I know I will see that soul again.

I believe they just die and don't exist..but I could be wrong.
They do not need salvation like we do and there should be animals in heaven and certainly will be on earth, whether they are the same ones we really don't know for sure..
You do know that God has wonderful things for his children and he can do anything. He could bring any animal back to life if it were to make us happy. I wouldn't eliminate any of the options that are available as God is a very loving father..

The Bible clearly tells us that the lion and the lamb will lie down together in heaven. That informs us that animals are there. Why would God create new ones instead of receiving those He already created into heaven? A lot of you answerer's have said that animals have no soul. I have never read anything that says that in the Bible. To make such a statement, one should site a Bible verse to back it up. Anyone who has had a pet knows the tremendous amount of love that they show. God is love. I believe that God placed a piece of Himself in the animals and we see it in how they love us unconditionally.I think they will be in heaven. God bless!!

The religious folks don't believe that animals have souls (or spirits for you "Jehovah's"). Footnote: some religions, such as Buddists & native Americans do believe that animals have souls. I've studied lots of religions, which is why I'm leaning towards atheism.

Humans have souls, animals do not have souls. The soul of a human leaves their body after death and their soul goes before God to be judged. An animal just gets buried after death.

Theologically I don't know. But I like to imagine my dead animals happily running around in some kind of Elysian fields, chasing rabbits and mice and stuff, and chasing sticks or wallowing in fresh streams. Don't care if there's no evidence, I like the idea.

All living creatures which have a displeasing nature in this life and are too ignorant to "change it" go to heaven, "where" they receive a nature quite the "opposite." (passive) Even humans who do not have the mental capacity to "reason" go to heaven for they are incapable of changing their nature. In heaven we find a Lord who is all compassionate and he would never condemn that which is beyond condemnation lacking the fundamental understandings of it's own behaviors.

When my cat died, my vet told me that my kitty will wait for me in Heaven by the Rainbow Bridge.
I have no idea how he knows this---maybe it's something they teach in veternary school. But it's a comforting thought.
