Is it okay for me to hold her?

nope, hamsters stay with her babies
ps. hamsters would die if they gave birth to 'pups'

Pups is the correct word for baby hamsters, so don't listen to the smartalecks with something to say about that. I'm glad you know your terminology. Hopefully, that means you have bred a quality pair of hamsters rather than just some pet store male and female and that you know what you are doing. So many on here think they can buy any male and female and it will be ok to breed them. She can spend time outside the cage with no problem, just be extra gentle with her. Take her out and give her some bits of boiled egg yolk. She will put it in her pouch to take back to the cage and nibble on, and it will give her the extra nourishment to take care of her babies. I would not keep her out very long. She doesn't need to get stressed. Good luck!

call the news of the world if your hamster has just had pups, only joking I never knew that was the name for baby hammys. In answer to your question, I don't know, don't hold the babies though she may eat them, that happened with my mice.

No. leave her alone for a few weeks. Don't clean the cage or move anything around. Only give food and water. If you disturb her too much, she can and will reject the babies and eat them.

put the pups in a different cage then the mother, see what that does. if that don't work ask me again and I'll give you another answer. byes stephnut93
