If he is using drugs, then the best answer is this :
Call Child Protective Services. Get the children out of the house asap ! ! ! He is only concerned with his drug problem.
The controlling factor should be the least of your worries. You should get him some help, first, then worry about the money problems. But, he is the one who must make the choice to quit or not. First things First. God Bless and take care

First of all, that is a sign of abuse. It can be mentally and physically. It does sound like he is a user and a cheap man. A man is suppose to do for a woman or it is suppose to be 50/50. Before I had a child my motto was not to date a guy with kids. Reasons are baby mam drama and why aren't they with their baby mama's. Why didn't it work? Was it his fault or hers. It tells alot about a man and his values on family. He is a total loser. I apologize if I sound rude. Please get a guy to kick out the cash so you can get the last laugh. No that was just a joke, but find a guy to treat you like a lady and have more values than this guy.

RUN!!! DO NOT WALK, RUN RIGHT NOW!!!!! Have the decency to call the police when he's using his trash on himself in front of the kids or whilst the kids are home. If at the least, take the kids to child services and drop them off there after you tell a social worker about him and his abuse.

Well, depends... You have to be more explicit, because it can be that his planning on saving, that at this time he doesn`t have enough money, or that simply he thinks you are not wise with money... You can be a great person, and give your life to help him, but you might get in your hands a fiva, a tena or 50 pounds... and all gets spent as quick as;-P
I think you should sit down with him privately, and have a mature conversation face to face, that always helps to clear any doubts;-)

you will have a very miserable life if you hang on to someone who is very controlling. You don't need someone to tell you when to do something or not. Lay back on doing so much too for him and his kids especailly if he doesn't acknolwedge it to you and appreciate what your doing. My daughter had a boyfriend who was controlling and she call me alot crying over her miserable days. She finally kicked him out of the house.
There are more fish in the sea.
