I have driven a Kia Picanto through a flooded road. The water came over the bonnet as I drove through the flooded area. The car seems to be working fine, the electrics are all OK and the brakes are OK - but I can hear water sloshing around when I drive the car. Where is the water likely to be and does it matter if the car is working OK ?

That's really not good. Driving with water over the hood has ensured that water got into your air intake, which means there is probably water in your fuel system, in the engine block, etc.

At this point, you'll probably want to get the engine pulled out and rebuilt, to get the water out of every place it shouldn't be before it has a chance to start forming rust on any of the internal, unreachable places.

Probably need to have you differential drained, relubed as well. May need to check the tranny fluid as well.

For any normal passenger car, you really shouldn't drive in water deeper than say 6 inches or so.

Calm down!!!!!!!!!! If the car is still working after that deluge, it is probably ok. It might pay you to have the oil changed in the engine just in case some did get in. Better safe than sorry. As for where it might be, well could be anywhere in the box sections of the frame. It is not the best thing to have, but it will go evenually.

In future, don't be so silly as to drive in water that deep. People have been known to die by being swept downstream.

If the motor is running OK, you got lucky. The water you hear
is probably in the doors which are just a metal box or maybe
in some other small place that can hold water. You should
find it and vacuum it out (wet/dry vac). If the car is holding
water where water wasn't meant to be, repairs of some kind
will eventually be necessary.

Look in the boot. It's probably sloshing around in the spare tyre well. I took mine to a valeter to have it thoroughly pumped and dried out.

the water could be inside your doors or in your spare tyre compartment if the diff, gearbox hubs and other various parts of your car are submerged it is a good idea to replace the oil and grease that has suffered this fate or at a later date they can fail due to this

i think of you would be ok as long because of the fact the motor vehicle saved working. If any actual water have been given in it would end. And a foot isn't deep sufficient to be a topic. that's advisable to evaluate changing the fluids interior the transmission and rear end and repacking the bearings in case any silt have been given in.

i am assuming the bonnet is the hood. you either have water in the fenders or in the doors.
