Has anyone ever found a better photographer after paying the $400 transferable but non-refundable deposit on their first choice?

Did you do anything about it, or did you just swallow it and get on with it..?

Do you think there is a tactful way of showing your photographer another photographers work and asking them to try and emmulate them a bit more..? The main difference I guess is that the photographer I have paid for seems to use a lot of photoshop work with the colours making them look 'vibrant' yet a little unnatural.. Where as these other guys seem to have a really beautiful natural quality about their work. :-s

Thanks! :o)

I haven't heard of a 'contact time'.. Is this some kind of a cooling off period?
I have reviewed the booking form and all it says is "Deposit transferrable, but not refundable."
I have had them booked for almost 2 weeks now.

Oh my God Chesney!! I'm glad you sorted that out! Thank Goodness you found the phographer you've got now. I hope you tell everyone how good she is and how nasty the other one was when they are looking around!!

The "vibrant yet a little unnatural" in one of those recent trends in wedding photography (just like photojournalistic style or off-axis photography -- you know, the slanty horizon lines?). The good thing is this means you have a photographer who is up on the recent trends and not stuck somewhere in the '90's.

It's unfortunate, though, if you don't like these recent trends. If your photographer is good, he should be able to do many different kinds of photography. I'm sure he has certain styles he prefers, but he will probably be willing to listen to your preferences. It's okay to tell a photographer what you want in terms of different family shots, etc., so I imagine it would be okay to tell him what you prefer in terms of photographic styles, too. I would try to stick to the images he has shown you, though, instead of bringing in other photographers' work. For example, find one of his pictures that exemplifies that natural quality you like and ask him to take most of your pictures like that. Tell him you don't like the color-enhanced look.

If it seems he is not comfortable shooting in the style you like, and if you have the money to pay another photographer's deposit, then I would suggest finding someone else whose style you prefer. Good luck!

Yes I have...however, there was no contract in writing and i cancelled the 300 dollar check after she proceeded to call me and my fiance fat cows and whales and how nasty we were and how he sexually assulted her *lmao*

well i did the ethical thing and turned around and sent her 150 dollars for the sitting fee (which WAS supposed to be free) and that still didn't make her happy lol..

we found a new photographer and she even gave us a discount on what we lost with the other lady...our photographer rocks!

No.. is your contact time up for a refund? You need to review it. Maybe you can get your money back.
