I think it is entirely possible that what you perceive as bad luck is only apparent and you may not be factoring in your emotional state. When you have suffered a loss it is possible that you feel annoyed and that annoyance unconciously affects your decisions.

You can only ask yourself that question.

I have played poker sometimes and the run of bad luck has been so persistent it has been virtually laughable. Sometimes it seems i can do no wrong!

It's a very good question and although I can find no rational argument, luck does 'seem' to be persistent!

Even the best players have bad runs of cards, and bad runs, suck outs, bad flop, and bad players can put you on a bad run. You can play a hand of poker, and you can make all the right moves in the hand, and you can still end up losing the hand. But i find more times then not, it has a lot to do with the players mental out-look on his or her image at the table. I know i have times where i am playing well but im still losing, or i am playing bad and then i go on to play like a total fish. When these things happen to me i have to walk away, otherwise my mental state will not let me make the right plays in any given hand. When I'm down money and I'm losing, i make sure i always base my bets or fold on what i think is the right play, and i try not to think about getting money back that I've lost in a day. So your mind set has a lot to do with things when your playing.

Your state of mind does not affect the outcome of the cards, but it does affect how you play your cards.

That is why they say to get up from the table for 5-10 minutes and calm down.

Playing on tilt is not good for your chip stack or your head.

Poker players call it 'going on tilt' when you let losing big hands affect how you play, causing you to lose even more hands.

The only way you get a losing streak in poker is if you don't know how to play it. "You gotta know when to hold'em, Know when to fold'em, know when to walk away..and know when to run."
