It is environmental extremist, notable politicians among them then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda.
It is true that the earth has been warming. Some scientist believe, It is coming out of the "Little Ice Age".
Though, humans are polluting the air and adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, but the effect is insignificant.

Well, I guess it's because, on every side, people are being bombarded with the "undisputed" fact that they are destroying the earth, and if they don't stop living in the only way they know how, storms will worsen, heat-waves will scorch the earth, sea-level rise will cause flooding all around the world, yada yada yada, and basically that everyone on earth is going to die.
If the newspapers, magazines, news channels on TV, and other media weren't do completely biased, and actually acknowledged that there IS another side to the global warming debate, then I think that people wouldn't be so afraid (if they would research the other side, they would see how weak the AGW science is).
(Trevor: This current warming trend is NOT very dramatic at all: one degree per century is not very fast, in my opinion. Also, humans didn't evolve from anything. You probably get your info from someone paid to advertise anthropogenic global warming.)
(yugica: You say you work for Greenpeace. This means that you probably know that Patrick Moore, the co-founder of the organization, left you guys because he was disgusted that you were turning from a true environmental group into a bunch of leftist-socialists, constantly pushing for more and more liberal ways to get people to do what you want. Nothing against you, but I'm just saying that Greenpeace isn't the best place to start when looking for straight scientific evidence.)
(Baccheus: There IS a debate. What you said is a flat-out lie. There are so many qualified, expert scientists who argue against the theory that we are warming the earth by the emission of greenhouse gases, like Tim Ball, Lord Lawson of Blaby, Ian Clark, Nigel Caldwell, etc.)
(Bob: It may be costly if global warming begins to take serious effect, but there is no evidence that it will. If we are to act, we need to wait until we know more about the climate, and it can't be government enforced. The government has MORE than enough power already, and more power for the government means less freedom for us.)

Not that this is a "natural" cycle, but don't you think there is a lot of "natural" events that actually ARE reasons for respect? Hurricanes for example, or floods or severe droughts?
Nature can be cruel some times and is indeed something to have respect for. Even if global warming and cooling have happened before (and before we where 6 billion people on earth), do you really think that means it can't hurt us?

the price of beer may go up ,because of potable water shortage
and food prices may rise because the third world slave countries got lots of problems due to Global Warming.
on e degree rise in temperature means 10% crop loss-
In Chiapas ,and Tabasco in Mexico .more then a million people became homeless overnight with water coming up to their roofs ,because of rains from super evaporation from the forests, this had never happened before.
Millions of animals died and the crocodile ,who are abundant in that area were delighted.
In India 3000 people died because of super storms .
Right now the average death toll annually is 150.000 due to Global warming
a few years ago a whole bunch in France as well.
these figures are already out of date and are expected to double soon.
In Northern China millions of people are running for their lives because regular dust storms so far have buried 900 villages under the sand
and the whole of northern China is turning into a dessert.
The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year all around the edges ,like a slow burning fire shriveling up their neighbors
In the Kalahari huge rivers have dried up and thousand of species are gone due to their habitats disappearing
when the north pole is gone , you may have polar bears soon in America ,looking for a home ,as the bollweavel sings.
so that is the good news you can add another specie to your list ,instead of deleting hundreds that are disappearing
the biggest changes are invisible at micro biotic levels species are becoming extinct ,others are multiplying ,this affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that affect all that follows in the food chains ,All life is interrelated of both flora and fauna,
And we as being on the top of the food chain are always the last to know
when they killed all the mosquito's around the Danube for example all of the life in the woods disappeared ,they were a vital link in the food change.like the disappearing bees will drastically affect pollination ,some of that is part of our food production
So Global warming has its toll there are incidents all over the world ,
the greatest dangers are that the ocean currents will stop moving ,If all the ice is gone ,
This will change all of the worlds climates .
And if sea levels rise
the mass displacement of people will cause governments to fall ,and wide spread public violence will follow
when all the people from the low coastal areas (and this is where most of the worlds population is ) go looking for higher ground ,which is already occupied .

A natural cycle is nothing to fear
but the rapid progress of our current impulsive and massively polluted lifestyle has had a great impact on the natural cycle and therefore it is not only destroying our earth but causing severe and abrupt climate change
You don't think the millions of cars we drive and tons of emissions we put into the atmosphere have anything to do with changing the "natural cycle"

Our planet of course won't die, as some people say, but our climate could drastically change, and signs are obvious it is doing so rapidly. Glaciers that have been documented for over two millenia, like those in Africa and Turkey, are melting at unprecedented rates. This can lead quickly to drought conditions in many areas, and cause widespread food shortages, starvation, and of course, WAR. All result in the potential for massive deaths of humans. Probably just earth cleansing itself of the billions upon billions of people who are damaging it. Earth will bring itself back into some balance eventually, but it might be 300, 1000 or 10,000 years from now. Life has come and gone, over and over on this planet for millions of years. Who knows, in a milllion years from now, the dinosaurs may rise up again and humans will be only documented in some rock layers.

BECAUSE WHAT IS HAPPENING ISN"T A NATURAL CYCLE....us HUMANS are causing this to happen that means that we can do something to prevent it..if it was natural we wouldn't have solutions to the problem.. we are using up way too many of our trees, electricity and water and our animals are going extinct faster than when dinasours did ...
do you know how much toxins you have in your computer right now? U.S. is the leading country for cancer...and so many people are infatuated by the new iphone and yet it is the MOST toxic phone to have. it is so cancerous and apple is actually secretly getting rid of it and improving it.. we have 2% of our original forests left... our ocean has increased a WHOLE 1% in it's temperature in the last 100 of years..this is why we are seeing more huricanes, tornados,tsunamis.... etc..
In the next 100 years if the ocean increases another 1% we can be looking at disaster....
BUT WE CAN HELP AND WE CAN SUPPORT environmental groups by doing little things, like turning off the lights and water when not using them, substituting paper towels (so we don't have to cut down so many trees) and not relying on cars soo much!
If people get involved we can restore 20% of our energy by 2020 and If we all help this movement we can restore up to 80% of our energy by 2050.....
this will happen by building more windmills that provide natural energy...
I know when I leave this planet I want to make sure my children, grandchildren and everyone else has a safe place to live in.

Those scientists who first noted the trend and began to write about it concluded that there would be a terrifying over-shoot affect: that even if man-made creation of greenhouse gasses were stopped immediately, warming would continue to increase for 50 years (I'm remember here from my intoduction to the problem in college 30 years ago -- don't think this is some new trend.) So the problem is with many ameteurs who haven't a clue what they are talking about keeping their heads in the sand because they fear they will have to give something up, and don't expect they will be around to see the changes. It is mis-education funded primarily by our oil countries that continue to make it sound like there is some debate. There is none. The experts in the field are agreed that man is causing the earth to warm.

I think they fear it because the media attributes every natural disaster to GW and because of movies like "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The Day After Tomorrow". The schools show these over blown speculative fairy tales to the kids who come home and have nightmares and freak out about it until their parents talk to them and explain the reality of the situation.

Because, if we do nothing, it will cost us all a HUGE amount of money. Much more than reducing it would.
It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.
Do you think all those scientists and world leaders are stupid, ignorant, or part of a giant conspiracy? Do you think they don't have better things to do than worry about this? The cost of dealing with unreduced global warming would send the world into an economic depression that will make the 1930s look like good times.
Even the Chinese have realized that bankrupting their customers will not be good for business. They're starting to change their ways.
