There are lots of places you can seek advice on what breed of dog would fit your life best. My favorite is the animal planet dog breed selector found here > http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dogselectorindex.do

A really easy dog to look after is a boston terrier.. they are about 16 pounds though.. They are really smart and have short fur (they shed just a tiny bit..)

Don't get it from a pet store. Those dogs usually come from puppy mills. Put a want ad in the paper. Often times when an elderly person dies they have to find a home for thier dog and many of them have lap dogs. Leave the dog you get up to fate and think of the new addition as "meant to be."

hmmm..that's tough with the weigt restriction. Poodles do not shed, toy poodles can weigh up to 16 lbs, give or take, Wheaten Terriers do not shed and are hypoallergenic, their rate ranges from 35-45 lbs.

You should get a shiz tzu.I have a chihuahua and shiz tzu mix. He is friendly lovable and doesn't shed. He is small but isn't really so small that its hard to avoid him. He favors the shiz tzu more than chihuahua but if u can find a mix than get a shiz tzu instead of chihuahua because they are more calm and easy to get along with. Trust me because we have 4 dogs and our little chihuahua is horrible and annoying! But the mix is not really that crazy and he love to were his shirts.lol! If you want a small dog you can spoil and dress up this is a great choice.
Hope it helps!

Why don't you check your local shelter? They have all kinds of doggies. They will probably know whether or not they shed. And you'll be saving a life!
