NO, the only PS3's that can play nearly all PS1 and PS2 games are the 20GB and 60GB PS3's because they have the Emotion Engine chip inside of them.

The 80GB PS3 can play both PS1 and PS2 games, it just can't play as many as the 20GB and 60GB PS3 because it uses Emulation Software to be backward compatible.

The only PS3 that cannot play PS2 games is the 40GB PS3.

No, only the original 60gb had full backwards compatibility. All of the newest PS3 consoles being introduced has limited compatibility.
