If the dentist put 'clay' into your tooth, it's a temp filling and means that the tooth is in tough shape. The purpose may be to try to calm the nerve of the tooth so you won't need a root canal. So, my advice would be LEAVE IT ALONE!!! Give the nerve the best chance possible to calm down! Unless you're hankering for a root canal just in time for Christmas! HO HO HO=)

I agree that it sounds like a temporary filling, but it's not gutta percha... gutta percha is a filling material used for teeth that have had root canal treatment... it's probably Cavit or IRM, which are temporary sedative fillings, that was placed in there...

If you try to and successfully remove it, your tooth will hurt. Leave it alone and follow the instructions she gave you concerning the next step in getting this tooth taken care of.

Did you just get braces? That's extra glue, not clay. You can pick it out with your fingernails or eat something sticky or brush it out if that's the case. If it isn't becasue of braces, it is there for a reason and leave it alone.

It sounds like a temporary filling (gutta percha). It's there for a reason. Don't remove it. Call tomorrow and ask what to do.
