Start keeping a journal of your headaches and everything you eat and drink. This is a real pain, I realize, but sometimes the triggers can be the foods you eat.

Some common things:

Caffeine or lack of (people used to caffeine get nasty headaches when they stop taking it)

Wine/alcohol- many have sulfites or tannins that can cause headaches.

Some people are sensitive to MSG, nutrasweet, splenda, aspartame, etc. All these things can cause headaches.

Dehydration is another biggy. Be sure you're hydrating yourself well (with water, not soda or coffee).

So start tracking that journal and see if you notice a pattern. You might also check your blood pressure because some people get headaches from sudden/drastic increases.

My grandmother gets quite a few tension headaches from having her purse strap over the shoulder. Eye strain can also do it. Do you need glasses or a new prescription?

Hard to say until you can get an idea of what might be causing it. Keep that journal, watch for patterns, and go from there.

Most of the time I find Advil works fine for my headaches ( I take Rx dosages- around 600-800mg). Sometimes Excedrin is helpful. Sometimes just a cool cloth over the eyes and forehead, a quiet dark room, and sleep is all that works.

If after keeping that journal for at least a week or two you still have no idea what's causing these headaches- go see a doctor. There may be things they need to check out, and they also may be able to prescribe better meds. Opt for the non-medication related treatments first, though. Those are ideal if they work.

Good luck!

If your experiencing headaches on a daily basis you should see your doctor as the cause/s could be detrimental to your health and well being. Also there is a syndrome with taking too many painkillers in that they actually can be a cause of the headaches themselves. Get a check up soon.

You might have migranes... try going to the doctor if it continues.
