If you are a single female, keep in mind that all the other guys are watching to see whether the one who finally got brave enough to ask gets turned down. After that, the rest of them won't chance it.

One dance with a guy you don't like won't kill you, and if he comes up a second time, you can then tell him that you sitting this one out, but thank you anyway.

You can always walk up to the guy you do want to dance with and ask him. The worst he can do is say no. While I understand that school politics have certain rules and what everyone else thinks is of major importance during these years, remember what I told you for when you are out in the real world at a club or something. There were plenty of guys I danced with that I didn't particularly want to, but it also told all the other guys, "If she will dance with him, then I'm sure she will dance with me". I used to have them lined up to dance with me! A little bit of class goes a long way.

This is high school dance. Girls should not refuse without good reasons. End of the school days you won't be seeing most of your friends again. Why your boyfriend jealous ?

My daughter always gets asked to dance and she is quite shy so she always says "Oh no, that's OK you don't have to." That way she doesn't have to dance and she asks like they were doing her a favor. It seems to work. If they persists she just smiles and says no thank you.

No, I'm sorry, I'm already dancing with him. (Grab the closest guy.)

Excuse me while I use the restroom.
