I have a sixteen yr. old female that won't be quiet, unless she's asleep. She seems to be perfectly healthy and social.

How's her hearing? Does she point her ears around at noises or do her ears stay in one position all the time? It's possible she's loosing some hearing and is raising the volume because of that.

I really think it depends on the cat. I have 2 and they both "talk" a lot. They are both about 2 years old. One "talks" more than the other, he will let us know when he is hungry, his box needs cleaning (he likes nothing in there), or if he jumps up and down or runs around. The other is a female and she talks just as much, although its more to communicate her feelings, when she is happy she makes all sorts of "talking" sounds. Its just a personality thing. Try and love it.

even when an animal seems healthy vocalization is a common sign of a hidden problem. since she is older she may be trying to tell you somehting. if it is a constant theme bring her to the vet
