But that is just the latest incident, prior to this they had stole all the lead off our
outhouse roof and sold it for scrap.

Oh dear dont you just love it when people do not confess to there wrong doings? Im pretty sure they were very scared as you probley were pretty steamed when you confronted the two...I would have them pay for the window either by doing choirs for you, ie like rake the yard, shovel the snow, take out your trash ect! Or talk to the parents and let them know you want compensation for there wrong doings and once you do that the parents if they are good parents will make them apoligize and will put down a punishment for them and give you some sort of money for your window...Children only learn from there mistakes by working hard to make things right and being held responsible for there action! You on the other hand should just take a deep breath love and remember that they are just little kids...Maybe you could be the role model for the two that they could look up to? You can teach them that they need to be honest and then make up for the things that they have done wrong....Im sure you wouldnt have been so mad if they would have just come clean in the first place right? It takes a comunity to help raise leaders! Best of wishes to you and your window! Always J.
Well if they are older than a child but act like children then everything i have said still applies to them, LOL! Just because they are 23 yrs old that does not mean that they do not need a better role model as i said before...obviously there parents didnt teach them the meaning of being responsible adults! So maybe you need to treat them as if they were children in that aspect? I find it to be Amazing that these boys( I say Boys because they do not act like men) Have gotten away with all this and are still doing it! I think they are just angry with you about something and Are lashing out on you for the hell of it! Maybe they need to be called out for a little one on one boxing match or something, LOL! Show them who the dominent male is... Jeeze some people's Children,LOL!

Oh for goodness sake, haven't you ever been young! Haven't you ever thrown a ball and it not hit its mark.
Relax, they haven't started a 3rd world war, they were playing ball and broke your window. Tell me something else, have you denied something you did, when you were a kid, and then felt guilty and gone back and admitted it was you.
Give them credit for confessing at all, they could have kept saying they didn't do it. Make friends with them, show what a nice person you are, do not be a nasty neighbor.
You must be a very uptight person, and if I were you I would try and relax more and enjoy the teens next door to you.

Well, at least they admitted it. Turn this into a positive. Tell them that you are proud that they were mature enough to tell the truth. Tell the parents that you feel they should work off the expense by mowing your lawn or pulling weeds for 3 months, every two weeks. The parents paying for the window would be nice but the repayment by these kids by working is more beneficial to them.
OK, I take back everything that I wrote above, Call the police and these crime spree thugs.

Okay... baseballs are cheap... like $1 each at WalMart, so withholding those are no punishment.
Their parents are responsible for this, so you need to talk to them about replacing the window...or reimbursing you.
If they won't reimburse you, you need to file a formal complaint with the community association... you may have to talk to the police or take them to small claims court. Consider dragging your insurance agent into it... they have ways of dealing with this.
Consider keeping the storm screens up on the windows on that side of your house.
Try to keep dealing with them on a professional basis... don't let your emotions get in the way of good sense.

Ask there parents to pay for the damage. If they don't take them to small claims. Take the ball with you.
