i have seen a lot of questions about whether it's ok for certain religions to own dogs, or if pets have a soul, rainbow bridge, etc.. i was just wanting to conduct an unbiased, non judgmental poll for all here. i am interested to know if religion has any bearing on the pets we keep or not.
1) what religion are you?
2) what type pets do you have and how many of each?
3) does your religion (or lack thereof) have anything to do with the fact that you do or do not have pets?
as for me:
1) atheist
2) 2 dogs, 2 cats
3) yes, because i believe this is the only life we have and animals deserve a good life too, i adopted pets from the shelter to give them as much happiness as possible before they die. they make my life better too, you can never have too much unconditional love!

1) atheist
2) 1 dog (my other two dogs passed away last year from old health. One was 15 and the other was 18years old) I also have 4 cats. And, during Christmas I'm adopting two black lab puppies from a local shelter.
3)Yes, I believe we also have only one life, and so do animals. And, i hate to see how many animals have no homes. So, as long as I have the money and time to care for all my pets, I will continue to keep adopting more. I believe animals are just like humans who have feelings too, and i treats them like my babies.

1) Christian
2) Two dogs, a Jack Russell and a Chi
3) No, it doesn't. I am religious because I like having something/someone to belive in. It's a comforting thought to know that when I die, there is more waiting for me besides dirt and worms.
I like thinking of heaven and what it'll be like and how happy everyone will be. Then again, I tend to be overly-imaginative and I could be wrong and it could be nothing like that. I'm just hoping it is.
Anyway, I like having pets and even if my religion said I couldn't...I probably would anyway. Does it really to any harm to anyone? (unless they're allergic of course)

1) Heathen
2) Two male guinea pigs! Their names are Sirrius and Remus. :) They're sweet.
3) Nope! I've always loved animals. If I could, I would have a dog or cat as well (preferably dog, because I'm allergic to cats) but my husband and I are living in an apartment at the moment. Just guinea pigs for now.

1) Wicca-based pagan
2) Currently 1 dog, have had dogs, cats, lizards, birds, fish, hermit crabs, rats, a hedgehog, and a rabbit in the past.
3) My spirituality is very nature-based, and I've always been a "critter person", so while I don't know if you can say "I have pets because I'm pagan" I believe being pagan does influence how I relate to my pets.

1. I am a Christian. No denomination.
2. I have a California Kingsnake.
3. No, what I believe does not say anything about pets. Although my grandma thinks that snakes are evil, I tend not to think that that means I can't have a pet snake. I love my pet very much, and I think that it would be unfair to judge all snakes just because one was evil. After all, does God judge all people just because Hitler was a bad egg?

1) Asatru/Anglo-Saxon Heathen
2) Cats - 14, dogs s (my mom's dogs) I care for my disabled mother.
3) Not really, I've always had animals and especially cats. In a way it compliments my having cats. One of my patron deities is Freya who is associated with cats (two large cats pull her chariot in the myths). I truly believe animals have souls (not as developed as humans but something that continues on after death and can come back).
