Because some people are afraid of what is different.
Treat everyone how you expect to be treated.
Don't let people like that get to you, they are missing out on diversity.

Most people that hate people other races suffer from inferiority-superiority complex.... they feel insufficient, they make up for it by feeling superior (i.e., either finding someone else that is worse of than them... or inventing a world in which they are superior).
I think the best way to think about why humans do what they do, is to learn about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs... people who have unfulfilled needs in the lowest three rungs.... usually have lots of issues that manifest themselves in various ways.
We are basically all human beings... and we all want & need the same basic needs.

People like to associate with people are like them. They want to be with people who are the same color, make about the same amount of money, education, and have similar values. This helps bring unity to a group. In fact, marketers use this to market to people in zip codes, states, and even countries. However, when carried to an extreme, this desire is called prejudice and discrimination. Unfortunately, this desire slows the acceptance of better ideas and ways to do things. The educated and experienced recognize the importance of diversity in a population. Diversity in life and work allows new ideas to combine with the exiting, a process called synergy, to create fantastic opportunities both personally and professionally. People hate who others based on color are afraid of the opportunities diversity can provide.

I suppose it's a few things, one being ignorance. If people knew and really understood that people are essentially the same, and that race isn’t even real (biologically), they might also see that it is kind of silly to be racist. Besides that, people are culturally biased and ethnocentric, so they might associate color with the cultures they dislike (?). Just a hypothesis, though - I'm not really sure.

some people just can't seem to accept someone else that is different from themselves. That is so dumb, I only hate people who have done me wrong or have messed with my kids and race has nothing to do with it! I am Hispanic and my children go to a predominately white school, although I get along with most of them, there are a hand full that continue to give them a hard time,

i dont know about most. but i dont really hate race in particular. its only natural for people to stereotype. say if you were a kid. you watch on tv and see *** people robbin banks and murderin people. when you grow up. you will have that image of that race. you see a *** person and your fears of gettin killed or whatever comes back. but this is one of the examples. there are so many other. remember the 9/11 tragedy in the US? now everytime someone see a middle eastern orineted person walkin through an airport. what do people think?. its gettin personal and people are fearin for their lives. it doesnt mean everyone hates that person. im sure it doesnt even show most of the time. it only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole tree. until people start to realize that every individual is different. thats the only time when this kind of stereotypin will stop. im tellin you now. im asian. im sure there are many thoughts runnin through your head about asian people right now and relatin it to me. and do you even know me? i highly doubt it.

I wouldn't call it hate. They just don't understand the concept of people being different. If they don't understand it then they naturally turn skeptical then scared. I believe the most educated people in the world are not racist, because they are more open to different people and cultures.

Pure IGNORANCE. I used to be very prejudice, then I gave it some long thought and realized how stupid I was not liking somebody because of their skin color, or race. I look back now how many great friendships I may have thrown away because I was so damned stupid.

Hate is only ever a product of fear and the lack of knowledge.
We fear/hate what we do not know or understand, because that lack of knowledge makes us powerless; defenseless. Very few ever thrust their hands into an dark place without fear or recklessness.
