I am a 31yr old divorced female with 2 kids. Tell me something fellows, is that a complete turn off? I am very independent, have a good job, own my own home, but have a hard time meeting men who have it together. Why do men run away from a strong independent woman?

I do not throw it in their face that I can take care of myself. I do not let them meet my kids because you have to be really careful these days. My children are not brats and respect all adults. I am divorced because my ex did not want to grow up and be a responsible adult. (even though he was 37)

That's your way of reasoning why your alone (sour grapes) There could be other factors. What kind of person are you? How do you treat men in a relationship? You are waving this flag of Independence in are face, I can only imagine what you do with a guy in your life. Beat him in the head with it? Your divorced with children. Why are you divorced? You didn't beat him in his head with your flag, did you? How are the children around the men you bring in? Are they brats, rude or do they carry little flags and beat them in the chines? We can't really answer this question honestly without knowing the whole story. The strong independent women battle cry is your crutch...or should I say crock.

Thank you for the commentary, but it is only your side of the story. By the way it's not up to you to decide if your kids are brats or not.

Now I know why your called Hotgirl ( It has nothing to do with your looks)

It doesn't bother me that a woman has kids, or a past. We all have a past with or without kids especially at 30 and beyond. As far as a strong independent woman with a good job etc. What's not to like? Not sure where you're trying to meet this guy, but I am divorced with kids and have dated women with kids. The kids were not a problem for the most part, but then again I love kids. The problem is finding that person you have similar values and interests with that is looking for the same thing you are. Many of those people who "got it together" are taken for good reason. But theres still a few of us out there, so don't give up. Good Luck.

I don't think all men run away from strong independent women, it is the type of men you are pursuing. Some may have it against you because you are a divorced mother with children. They are afraid of the "baby's daddy" drama or dealing with children who may not want them around because they are not their father. On the other hand they might be traditionalists and are intimidated by a strong woman.

You need to do some self-evaluating as to where you are meeting these men. You might be best served looking for someone who is more educated, professional, and open to being with a liberated woman.

No it's not. I like a lady that is independent and can make a living on her own. Having two kids shouldn't be a problem some people like myself can't have children, so finding someone with kids is really nice. You just need to look in different places and do things where you meet other people. Good luck and there is nothing wrong with you at all.

It is certainly not a turn-off. You sound delicious. Some men are insecure the same as some women are insecure. No one likes a hateful ***** whether it is female or male. I personally like successful strong women who have a nice personality.
