What would (Orthodox, Progressive and Conservative) Jews think of this.

Researches get late aborted fetuses, take the egg from it and use it for therapeutic cloning.

From my understanding, Orthodox Jews have applauded therapeutic cloning, but would their view change if they were using eggs from aborted fetuses.

And what about, Progressive and Conservative Jews? How would they feel?

EDIT: Sorry, I made a mistake there. They're getting stem cells, from aborted fetuses eggs.

orthodox Jews are in general against abortion, they claim that the soul enters the fetus forty days after conception so if you abort after the forty days u are murdering a human being with a soul.

i happen to be against stem cell research from human eggs. don't get me wrong, i love medicine and actually was considering at one point to study genetics in university. i just can't help feeling that once it becomes legal to do research on aborted babies, desperate women in need of money will intentionally get pregnant and then sell the fetus on some black money for sale - and that is murder in my book!

Ok so first off it's not the semen that travels to the egg it's the sperm. Semen is what the sperm are in when they come out. The sperm leaves the semen within a few minutes and travels into the womb. Then it travels thru the tubes to where it expects the egg to be. That can take hours or longer depending upon how well the sperm swim and how straight they go. Most sperm are not shaped right and they get lost or swim around in circles or just plain die before they get there. But since there are millions of them this is not usually a problem. Sperm can live up to 5 days, but 2-3 days is more common.

How about Christians, Buddhists, etc? This is a touchy situation. stem cell research might be good but the cloning is that all they research? The cloning maybe they would be like robots with no soul. Maybe the Mormans or Masans would love that they like women with no souls or to take their souls. Just who is doing the research? If someone wants control over a person that may be the way to go . Who would know? Shutting up now.

Judaism tends to frown on abortion in general: the exceptions are when having the baby will have a dramatic and negative effect upon the physical or emotional state of the mother.

As to cloning: I don't know is the honest answer, but I'm going to look it up and add to this answer tomorrow :)

What do you mean "egg from aborted fetus"? A fetus doesn't have an egg, it is a fertilised egg itself. I think you must provide emore accurate info.

I think it's sad. But my school goes absolutely crazy over abortion. It's sooooo annoying.

that's unethical, how's this even allowed ? kill the poor babies (''fetuses'') so we can use them for scientific research. SICKENING.

My brothers and sisters in jewry, the Lord who has blessed our forefathers Abraham, Jacob, and Isaac said ''Be fruitful and multiply'' --- obey his will or be cursed.
